Dr. Punam Sawarkar is Head of the Department & Professor, Ph.D. Supervisor in the Department of Panchakarma, Mahatma Gandhi Ayurved College, Hospital and Research Centre, Solod (H), DattaMeghe Institute of Higher Education and Research, Wardha, Maharashtra, India. She holds B.A.M.S, M.D. (Panchakarmo), Ph.D. (Panchakarma), Medical Health Profession Education (M.H.P.E.), Mayo Instructor Course in Simulation and Experiential Teaching-Learning (USA.), Certificate Course in Keraliyan Panchakarma (Kerala) and CG.O. She has 14 years of teaching and 16 years of research experience and has served as Ph.D. Coordinator of the Institute's Ph.D. Cell for the last two years.
She has received 40 awards including Best Teacher National Award in Panchakarma (UG)-2022, Best Innovative Ph.D. Thesis Award-2021, Award of Excellence in Panchakarma-2021, Best Houseman & Best Student Award-2010, Young Achiever Award-2024, Best Ph.D. Thesis Award-2020, 24 Best Paper, 4 Best Poster and 5 Best Essay Awards. She holds 191 copyrights (181 granted, 10 filed) and 3 patents: I granted and 2 filed.
Her contributions include 6 books, 73 chapters in 16 books, 154 published and 3 accepted indexed articles, and 112 presentations. She delivered 116 guest lectures and chaired 29 sessions. She developed Prakriti Parikshana software (2023) and completed 31 projects with 6 ongoing. Trained in MHPE and Mayo Simulation, she implements CBME, OSCE/OSPE, simulation-based Panchakarma education, SOP development and patient-centred quality care.
Dr. Gaurav Sawarkar is Vice Dean, Professor and Ph.D. Supervisor in the Department of Rachana Sharir, Mahatma Gandhi Ayurved College, Hospital and Research Centre, Salod (H), Dotta Meghe Institute of Higher Education and Research, Wardha, Maharashtra, India. He holds B.A.M.S., M.D. (Rachana Sharir), Ph.D. (Rachana Sharir) and M.Phil. He possesses 15 years of teaching experience and 12 years of research experience in Ayurvedic anatomy and allied biomedical sciences. He is recipient of 16 awards including National Best Teacher (UG)-Rachana Sharir 2023, Best Teacher Award-2022 and Young Scientist Award-2021. His research excellence is reflected through 13 research awards comprising 7 Best Paper Awards, 4 Best Poster Awards and 2 Best Ph.D. Thesis Awards. He has received 150 registered copyrights (till 2 April 2024) and holds 3 patents: 2 granted-(i) Four Pulley Portable Sectioning Machine with Sliding Table and (ii) Apparatus for Dispensing Herbal Enema Medicine, and 1 filed-Portable Janubasti Instrument.
His scholarly output includes 11 published books such as E-Book on Mobile App as Teaching and Learning Tool (2019), Cancer Medicine in an Ayurvedic Perspective (2023, Bentham Science, Singapore), Handbook of OSCE Series for B.A.M.S, Diabetology in Ayurveda, Critical Appraisal of Internal Oleation Therapy and Classical & Clinical Panchakarma texts. He has authored 62 chapters in 15 books and 134 indexed research articles with 83 conference presentations.
He serves as Editor of Journal of Ayurved System of Medicines and as Associate Editor/Reviewer for several journals. He delivered 40 guest lectures, chaired 32 sessions and completed 13 projects including one AYUSH funded with one ongoing, contributing to advancement of Ayurvedic education and integrative anatomical sciences.
