As scholars and commoners know it were Kakatiyas that brought all the Telugu people of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh under one umbrella for over one and half century. Thereafter the Telugu regions fell into chaos -politically and hence socially. Then came the dynasty called Recharla Padmanayakas who were subsequently called Velamas in Telangana. They not only protected Telangana people from the political dangers caused by Delhi Sultans and Bahamanis of Gulbarga but also strived their best for the socio-economic development of Telangana for over a century during the post Kakatiyan 14th and 15th centuries.
It is welcoming that the book on such an important dynasty is brought out at an important juncture when the new state of Telangana is looking for its past glory. The composers of the book - Dr. Dayakar and Dr. Satyanarayana -seem to have made the book more lucid and authentic simultaneously with primary sources and photos. I congratulate them and refer the book to every Telangana person to go through the book to enrich their knowledge so as to love their pride past.
