In the information science research, it is challenging to learn how to identify information needs, and to accommodate service patterns around those needs in a constantly changing environment. The early research in this area resulted in a somewhat distorted view of 'information seeking which made it mission-oriented and document-centered. The first period of scholarly communication was largely concerned with the user of scientific and technical information whereas in the second stage, sufficient attention was paid to 'Social Science'. However, only recently, serious attention has been devoted to 'Humanities' which has been the most isolated field. It is now gaining momentum in the field of user studies.
