Preface

This Text on Karma Yoga (Yoga of Action) was assembled from the transcribed talks of Sri Gurudev (Spiritual Master) Sri Swami Satchidananda and from the works of Swami Vivekananda, Swami Abedananda (Brother-monk of Swami Vivekananda), Swami Sivananda and other Saints and writers, which are listed under references and cited in the footnotes. I acknowledge my grateful indebtedness to all of them. If there are any errors and faults, I am personally responsible.

This Text is much more comprehensive than any other text on Karma Yoga. It covers all aspects of Karma Yoga with guidelines for practicing it. There are four major paths for attaining the life's goal of Self-realization or God-realization, namely, Bhakti Yoga, Raja Yoga, Jnana Yoga and Karma Yoga. Karma Yoga is the approach to God through selfless service. It spiritualizes our day-to-day activities and service to others and by its magic touch, work becomes worship and Yoga.

The compilation of this work was entirely due to the inspiration and Grace of my beloved Sri Gurudev and the Supreme Lord. Indeed Sri Gurudev (visible manifestation of God) and the Lord worked through this humble soul. With deep devotion I dedicate this Text to the Lotus Feet of Sri Gurudev and the Lord for having used this soul as an instrument in their Hands.

May this Text inspire and guide the students of Yoga in their sincere practices for achieving the ultimate purpose of life, Self- realization.
