Additionally, it discusses the Sankhya theory of Evidence, which encompasses Perception, Inference, and Testimony.

About the Author- 1
Kapila, also known as Cakradhanus, is a revered sage in Hindu tradition, credited as the founder of the Samkhya school of philosophy. Born to sage Kardama and Devahuti, he's considered a Vedic sage and is believed to have lived around the 6th or 7th century BCE. Some texts describe him as an incarnation of Vishnu. His influence on Buddhism is widely studied. Many Hindu and Jain figures, pilgrimage sites, and even a variety of cow are named after him. Kapila's teachings, particularly his Samkhya-sutra, have left a lasting impact on Hindu philosophy, emphasizing principles like non-violence.
About the Author- 2
James Robert Ballantyne (1813-1864) was a Scottish Orientalist, teaching Persian, Hindi, and Arabic at the Scottish Naval and Military Academy. Later, he became superintendent of Sanskrit College in Varanasi and published key works on Indian grammar, broadening European scholarly access.

Preface
Tats Lecture, delivered in the session of 1849, is a sequel to those on the Nyaya Philosophy delivered to the senior class of pupils in the English Department of the Benares College, in 1848, "with the view of introducing them to the philosophical terminology current among their learned fellow-countrymen the pandits." For selecting the Tattwa-samása as the text-book, there were two motives-the simplicity of its arrangement, and the extreme rarity of the work. Mr. Colebrooke (at p. 233. vol. Ist of his Essays) speaks of it as being uncertain whether the work were still extant; and few of the pandits appear to know it except by name.
