The protagonist of the story, Babun, hails from a village, which is deprived of even the basic necessities of life like roads, electricity, telephone connections, pure drinking water, or any kind of medical aid. As the last child born to a middle-aged mother in a family that is not financially well-off, Babun struggles in his childhood to chart his path in the journey of life with faith in his hard work and total devotion towards the Creator.
His wise, intelligent, and God-fearing mother, though illiterate always encouraged Babun in his pursuit of excellence. This enabled Babun to become more confident of himself, excel in academics and grow up to undertake management of large industrial set ups. Parallel to this, Babun studied science as well as the Scriptures to understand the purpose of creation and the true nature of the Creator.
Approaching old age, Babun seems ready to face death and receive his judgement from the Creator at the end of the journey of life. The protagonist Babun, it is hoped, will inspire the readers to aim at leading a life of fulfillment.
It is my hope that this book mostly meets this expectation.
IFE IS A journey. Each one of us lives in our own "well" of expertise/profession and this well generally does not allow one to go beyond: from physical to metaphysical or from the material to the spiritual world. As a result, we keep walking through different milestones in the journey of life, aimlessly, instead of charting our own chosen paths. Taking the first bite of solid food, securing admission to a school, aiming at higher education, getting a job, getting married, having children, retirement, starting a retired life, etc. are some of the milestones of life. Each one is important. As one grows, one must look at these milestones well in advance to prepare oneself for a happy life. At the same time, one also must try to understand oneself, the creation around one as well as the true nature of the great Lord who created all these.
Unfortunately, many of us do not look at life as a whole. At times, we decide on how to cross the bridge after reaching it. In the process, we just leave ourselves to the mercy of the stream of life and it becomes too late to realise the true meaning of life and one day we leave this world regretting the past.
Two of the major milestones of life are represented by the two questions namely: What one would like to retire as and what would happen to one's soul after one's death? Early realisation of these two aspects of life helps one to chart the right path of life at one's own will thereby making life fulfilling and leaving behind no regrets at the time of death.
Human beings have enormous potential. We don't use even a fraction of the same in our whole life. Still, at times, we wrongly feel handicapped by our inheritance or the social set up in which we are born or even our own mental capacities.
