During the past few decades, advances and experiments in the field of medicine have stressed more and more on the preventive aspect of the diseases. Role of diet has been focussed as the mainstay in causation, prevention and cure of many common diseases in most of these researches. Dietary regula- tions have attained an important place in the prescriptions for many common ailments like diabetes, peptic ulcer, heart disease, epilepsy, migraine, cancer etc. Although much has been documented about this aspect, one finds hardly any significant change in the policy. In this small work an attempt is made to familiarise the readers regarding the changing trend in dietetics. The author has also tried to clarify certain false notions preva- lent in the society regarding particular food habits.
