Book Description
Preface

By the grace of God I was born into such a spiritually rich heritage that left such a huge impact on me which guided my spiritual growth right from the inception of my life; right from my childhood to this day. Surrounded by all the comforts and luxuries and with the warm presence of loving, caring, humble and down to earth parents Mrs. Surjeet Sodhi and Mr. Ranveer Singh Sodhi who lavished all their love and care on me and yet as a child, I did not have any company of my own age as my elder brother was at boarding school. I was also supposed to follow him as I was also registered at Cambrian Hall, Dehradun; one of the most eminent schools of that time.

As a five year old when my parents took me for joining the school, my mother started crying and refused to part with me so Ms. Mannering, who was the principal of the school at that point of time, being very kind hearted suggested that I could join after one year at the age of six years as I was too young at that time.

That one year never came as my mother would not approve of sending me to the boarding school as a result of which my father had to use all his influence to get me enrolled in BHE academy, Hardwar which was meant only for the children of officers of BHEL, So I was an exception being the only outsider from BHEL community and the condition put by the school was that the commuting of the child will be the responsibility of the parents. Throughout all my schooling years my father would personally drop me and pick me from the school that was at a daunting distance from our house. It was at the other end of the town in old Hardwar popularly known as Kankhal area as he would not trust any driver or servants with his precious daughter.

My parents were highly educated. They graduated from D.A.V. College, Dehradun in the 50's and my father went on to become the topper and the gold medalist of Gurukul Kangri University, Hardwar in Psychology. He was also a lecturer in the Nirmal Sanskrit Mahavidhyalaya and never charged a single penny for it.

My parents were not only active participants in the religious and spiritual fields but also totally dedicated to the cause of humanity. They were very active members of the Rotary Club and Inner-Wheel Club.

Introduction

I n this book an attempt has been made to understand the complex puzzle of parenting. It is not easy to put it into one exact category. To some parents it is an art to bring up the child and to another category of parents it is like a science that has to be applied accurately in bringing up the child.

In this book I have tried to make all the parents feel that parenting is a very simple cake-walk. Firstly, if they follow certain basic rules and principles of our traditional thinking and secondly, learning the basic instincts of life from abundance of the nature.

I firmly believe that parenting is like going with the flow. It should have nothing to do with stress, tension, overreacting or over thinking as parenting brings with it many lovely and rewarding moments that you will treasure all your life.

It makes your life more rich and fulfilling. Though I agree that parenting is definitely an uncharted territory and it is like venturing into the unknown but I do believe that there is always a silver lining to every dark cloud and there is always light at the end of the tunnel. So I have shared certain easy and interesting steps that all the parents can undertake to reach that positive silver lining.

I can promise you that by the end of reading this book you will be amazed that how beautiful, easy and memorable journey of parenthood would be.
