Book Description

Introduction

'The Mystery of The Disappearance of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose', on 18 August, 1945, is perhaps the most mysterious chapter in the political history of the world. The people of India, and of other countries did not confer their reliance with the news when it was published on 23 August, 1945, and never complied afterwards, because of the fact that the alleged air crash at Taihoku, in Formosa, and alleged subsequent death of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose has not, or could not, been proved till date, covering a period of fifty two years. The British and American authorities launched investigations for four times with their respective Intelligence teams, for the confirmation of the accident and death of Netaji, but failed. Not a single report of the four has been published yet. Part of those reports which had been made available, reveals, and the authorities are certain of it, that the air crash story was a hoax, and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose did not die in any such accident. Naturally the 'mystery got its momentum and gained with its substance and in its largeness, as the days went by.

The people of India continuously pressed the demand for enquiry in this matter, on their Government, during the last half of 40s and the first half of 50s. The Government of India carried enquiry by forming a Committee in 1956 which held the air crash and death of Netaji as fact. But the people of the country did not accept the report as a believable one and demanded for a fresh and non-axiomatic enquiry. Government of India carried investigation for the second time by a Commission in 1970. The Report of the Commission also held the same decision and it was rejected by the people in the same way. Then the Government himself declared, in 1977, in Parliament, that also did not accept any one of the reports. So the mystery further went into deep and remained unresolved.

In this situation, it seems to be the utmost responsibility and a prior task, for those concerned, to bring out a complete history of this chapter, which is not only related to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, the greatest hero of India's freedom war, but deeply connected with the struggling nations of South and South East Asia during the 40s. And it is the task for those, who bear the minimum responsibility for the nation, for the country and for the people who are still striving for their liberation as a whole, to do the job in this Centenary year of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.

This book, true to say, is not a fresh investigation on the alleged Taihoku plane accident, rather it is marked as 'A Golden book of Investigation'. The book starts discussion with the background, the last battle of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and his Azad Hind Fauz against the British Imperialism and then enters into midst of the mystery. The first volume of the book includes Report of the Inquiry Committee of 1956, appointed by the Government of India, and the 'Parallel Report' or the 'Dissentient Report' made by one of the members of the Committe, as the Committee gone devided.

And then proceeds further in the next volume.

Once again I like to note, this is perhaps the biggest 'political mystery' in the history of the world, not for 'disappearance' only, but for some more reasons which are absolutely political. This book does not intend to prove that Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose is still alive in this 1997 or like that, but to search the mystery, whether he died in that alleged accident or not. And the research is absolutely a collection of incidents, informations, facts and evidences, and examination there to, which are the ingredients of history of high importance. We must be truthful to history, if we desire to put ourselves in the letters of history. The book will receive its highest respect and success if it be able to bring the readers, the people of the country nearer to the history, and to the truth, unveiling the mystery, ruling for more than fifty years.
