Journal of Himalayan Buddhist Studies is an academic journal exalted to meet the aims and objectives of Central Institute of Buddhist Studies (Deemed to be University) in disseminating knowledge about Buddhist view, practice and meditation for the benefit of humankind. The Buddhist science and Buddhist philosophy have a great deal to offer to everyone, especially in the modern world. The modern material developments have nothing to offer but insecurity and competitiveness as well as tensions associated with them. Buddhism has a great responsibility in sharing our thinking, knowledge and experience to build a peaceful world. Buddhist science deals with anal studies to be published in the Journal of Himalayan Buddhist Studies will aim at reducing negative thoughts by promoting positive thinking. Buddhist philosophy deals with reality and how we understand reality that can be helpful to anyone, without having to accept the more religious aspects of Buddhism. The ancient Indian education system based on view, practice and meditation was not merely to give information but to investigate the inner and outer realities. When one understands the realities, he or she builds up a habit of refraining from acting, speaking or thinking destructively under the influence of disturbing emotions and attitudes. It is the constructive behavior that builds up the potentials on our mental continuums for experiencing long-term happiness. The main aim of Buddhist education is all round development of human's personality. This includes his or her physical, mental, moral and intellectual development as well as to make a wise, intellect, moral, non violent and secular man. Buddhist education makes man sensible, humanist, logical, and free from superstitions. They always think about the welfare and happiness of own as well as others. In the 21st century, we have witnessed decline in moral education in society and in this situation the Buddhist education based on threefold training, Sīla (Moral virtues), Samādhi (meditation) and prajña (wisdom) has great significance. Practice of moral virtues is not an imposition, but voluntary undertaking of certain restriction for the wellbeing of self and also others, because what is harmful to self is harmful to others also. It humanizes us to ourselves and each other and promotes understanding of restraining of harmful impulses and the cultivation of compassion, considerate, and wisdom.
