Introduction
'Dharma should be practiced for the purpose of gaining joy and happiness here and hereafter.' Perhaps it has become common saying that comes from the mouth of almost every Buddhist follower. There are many people who do not know even the meaning of Dharma. If so, we can imagine how they will practice it. Similarly, they are sometimes found saying 'Dharma should be spread for bringing peace in the world. In this context, I must say that they should know where the Dharma should actually be spread and where it should flourish. Generally, Dharma refers to something that has an identity. As per the spiritual sense, it means the path of practice that helps one to be free from the suffering by overcoming the karma (action) and klesha (delusion). Dharma has two forms: that of transmission referring to the written scriptures, and that of insight referring to the teachings gained through the practice of higher trainings. Moreover, Dharma has ten principal objects which are: object of knowledge, path, nirvana, object of mind, fortune, life-span, scriptures, that is to be arisen, certainty and dharma-lineage. To talk about the issue of spreading and flourishing the Dharma, there are many gurus, masters, teachers, scholars etc., who are found giving teachings a midst big gatherings of people. And it may be a way of spreading the Dharma. But I think Dharma should flourish in one's mind. When the stream of the Dharma flows into the mind, it washes away the stains such as delusion and obscuration that are stored in it throughout many births. When the mind becomes devoid of the three poisons of delusion, all negative thoughts simultaneously disappear, and consequently, positive thought, attitude and motivation spring up in the mind. If negative thought does not arise in the mind of a man, he will not think of bringing harm to another person. If he does not think of bringing harm to any other, there will be no conflict and dispute in the society. In this way, peace can prevail in the world. Sadhana is the most important thing among all practices of the Dharma.
