Book Description
About the CD
Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram takes great pleasure in bringing to you this unique product that helps you to listen and learn how to chant The Yoga Sutra of Patanjal The classical text of the Yogasutra is found by many students to be difficult to chart as the text does not give the phrases broken up into their constituent parts.

One of the greatest contributions of T Krishnamacharya and TKV Desikachar has been the presentation of the entire text of the Yogasutra with the words of each sutra broken up to make it easier for the student to learn and recite the text. Further, since the Yogasutra is technically a Smrti and so may be recited in any manner, for the sake of uniformity among students of this teaching tradition, TKV Desikachar in consultation with his father and teacher, T Krishnamacharya notated the text in a specific manner.

It is this system of notations that is followed faithfully in this rendition Another unique aspect of this product is that presents the Yogasutra in two modes. The audio CD offers the user the option of listening to the rendition of the sutra-s from all four chapters one after another. The MP3 disc presents the same rendition of the Sutra-s but with a gap after each sutrs for the student to repeat that line in real time. This gap is given with 50% reduced audio volume so that the user can repeat each line using the support of the recorded version.

A value addition to this product is the inclusion of the two traditional Invocation prayers to Patanjali by Sage Vyasa and King Bhoja respectively and also T Krishnamacharya's Adisesha Astakam a beautiful poem in eight verses, presented as an ode to Adi Sesha, whose incarnation Patanjali is believed to be.
