Book Description
About the Book
Kāśī, and everlasting path of Salvation, an abode of Lord śiva, and the heart-land of the Gangatic-valley is, infact, an illustrious city of the world. It has fanciful colours of the rituals, fairs and festivities. It is a symbol of unity in diversity as reflected by the residents of the various corners of the country. Kāśī is an especial tirtha, where one may achieve a balanced amalgmation of all the four Purushārthās. Kāśī is śiva and śiva is Kāśī. Therefore the object of this book is to explore the past and present Kāśī. From this point of view twelve articles of the scholars in this book illuminate the past and present Kāśī. All the articles embodied in this book are thought provoking. Some hidden riddels have been brought into light and the authors have tried to solve them successfully. some erroreneous conception about the invasion of Indo-Greeks in the Gangatic Valley have been brought into light. Where Mathura Art reached at Zenith during the Kushāna period, in the same way the artisans of Kāśī under the patronage of Gupta ruler flowed an independent flag of the Banarasa School of Art. Which is known as Kaśıka Art. The artists of this style has skilfully illuminated the spiritualism and physical beauty on the same platform. The articles of this book are a dialogue between the past and present Kāśī.
