The Indian Constitution is the cornerstone of the Indian polity. It not only provides a framework of Governance but it also provides the principles & values to the polity as whole. Democracy has played an important role in the path of development. After independence; India opted for a democratie Condition and direction of development for almost 75 years. But by 1990, it brought India to such a point that it had no parliamentary which soon led to welfare policy and socialism. It this socialism that determined the choice but to adopt the policy of liberalization, privatization and globalization. Today, when the era of coalition politics has become permanent, some government should come, it is not possible to make fundamental changes in these policies. The challenge before the government is to maintain the material development of the people and to take its constitutional commitments together. In the book presented, an attempt has been made by the author to explain these inter relationships. How various governments have tried to co-ordinate and synthesize between the Constitutional provisions-democratic relations between the Center State, Fundamental rights, Directive principles of state policy and global democratic responsibilities. This explores the transit conditions of Indian Constitution and has impacted on the constitution of India.
