Book Description
About the Author
Dr. T.K. Seshadri, is a student of Dr. S.B.Deo and Dr. H.D. Sankalia of the Deccan College, Poona. Dr. Sankalia was a student of F.J.Richards of the London University. F.J.Richards, ICS., (after whom there is a locality named in Bangalore) while being the Collector of the Civil Station, Bangalore was one of the Founders of the Mythic Society, in some of the seminars of which the author's papers on 'Ancient Karnataka History' are published. His paper at the Hampi Vijayanagar History Seminar - 1996 held jointly by Vijayanagara Hampi Heritage Trust and Karnataka Itihasa Academy is published. As Professor of History at the reputed M.E.S. College, Malleswaram, Bangalore, the writer was on the Bangalore University Board of Studies in History (1986-89) during which period he was an examiner for the University Post Graduate Diploma in Indology. Dr. Seshadri was an active student participant in the 'Quit India' Movement in 1942. He attended Mahatma Gandhiji's prayer congregations at T.Nagar, Madras in 1946 and had a very close Darshan of Mahatma whose eyes were communicative. The author possesses a certificate of Basic proficiency in Hindustani, Signed by the Mahatma himself (Rubber stamp). He has had personal meetings with Rajaji and his blessings. Dr. Seshadri is an associate of the Gandhi Ashram at Tirucchengodu, established by Rajaji. His Book 'Sparkles and Sprinkles' (anecdotes from Gandhiji's life) is published by the Bhavan's Gandhi Centre of Science and Human Values in 2006.

Preface
I am indebted to the authorities of the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan's Gandhi Centre of Science and Human Values for having taken up the publication of Rajaji in Anecdotes. As a Research Scholar at the Centre between 1997-1998, the author. wrote, first, Bapuji in Anecdotes and then Rajaji in Anecdotes. The author would have been happier, if Rajaji in Anecdotes was published during the lifetime of Dr.H.K.Ranganath who gave me these two assignments. That was not to be. I am grateful to the present Honorary Director Dr.S.Balachandra Rao, for having written an encouraging 'A Publisher's Note.' May I request the authorities of the Centre to take up Bapuji in Anecdotes which is in the 'To be Published Series'for the last six years. The author, inwardly, feels that the writing on the Mahathma is done better, as it is on a greater soul. It was Mahathma Gandhi who, out of his many 'sishyas,' made many stalwarts like Rajaji who had referred to Gandhiji as 'My Guru'. Here also, the sishya has preceded the Guru.

Introduction
Rajaji was one of the greatest of the leaders of India of the Twentieth Century. Rajaji's dominance and service ran for almost sixty years. For a long time, our nation Bharath expected him to be the successor to Mahathma Gandhi. When Rajaji could be the Mahathma's 'Consience keeper', one can understand C.R.'s moral genius. C.R was a farsighted statesman, a 'Kalagnani' par excellence. As said of the great 'Lokamanya Tilak, C.R. also "Combined..... orthodoxy with Revolutionary ideas." Rajaji was a true Hindu,a Gandhian Hindu, because, he was, absolutely, a casteless Hindu. A couple of months ago, we had Rajaji's One Hundred and Twentyfifth Birth Anniversary. We take this publication as the Centre's celebration of the event, particularly when Dr. K.M. Munshi and the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan were dearest to the sage Rajaji. Another added feature is that this book has, before the text, a reprint of an article by K.M.Munshi, the Architect of the Bhavan and an appendix by S.Ramakrisnan, a dedicated worker of the Bhavan. Both the articles are tributes to Rajaji. The very fact that Rajaji was the first recipient of the highest honour of the land 'Bharat Ratna' is indicative of his frontline placement among our patriots of the highest order. This writing is not only Rajaji in Anecdotes but, it is also on the reflections of the Rajaji Thought political, economic, social religous and literary.
