About the Authors Dr. Ashwini B.N. She has completed B.A.M.S. from Ashwini Ayurveda College, Davangere, Karnataka and Post Graudate in Shalakya Tantra from SDM College of Ayurveda, Hassan. Presently working as Associate Professor at PG Department of Shalakya Tantra at Amrita School of Ayurveda, Kollam, Kerala. Has published many articles in various National and International Journals.

Dr. K. Sivabalaji He has completed B.A.M.S. from Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Ayurveda College, Chennai and Post Graduate in Shalakya Tantra from SDM College of Ayurveda, Hassan. Presently working as Assistant Professor at PG Department of Shalakya Tantra at Amrita School of Ayurveda, Kollam, Kerala. Has published many articles in various National and International Journals.

Foreword Br Sankara Chaitanya Medical Director and Principal School of Ayurveda, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetam, Amritapuri, Kollam Aum Amriteshwarayai Namah, Ayurvedic Ophthalmology is an ancient system of medicine which has its deep roots in the Indian culture. It was widely practised in all parts of India. But today it is limited to the mangement of only the complicated cases and that too only in Kerala. Apart from AyurvedaSamhitas, there are many books availabe in Malayalam in which many unique formulations are explained. These formulations can be practiced easily and effectively. Owing to the language barrier, Ayurveda practitioners from other parts of the country are unable to access these formulations. So, there is the need to translate them into a more popular language that can benefit a larger community. These yogas had been translated into English by the authors of this book. I greatly appreciate the efforts of the authors, Dr. K. Sivabalaji and Dr. Ashwini, B.N for translating many valuable formulations into English from Malayalam books. May Amma bless them for their selfless endevour. Let all be happy and healthy!

Preface Ayurveda is a science which dates back centuries. It is called the Indian system of medicine. It has its deep roots in our country and is practiced widely. Apart from Ayurveda classics like Brihatrayis and laghutrayis, there are few regional books which details simple formulations in the treatment of certain commonly occurring diseases which are easy to practice. Kerala is one among those states which imbibes Ayurveda in their lives, from daily practices to management of certain challenging conditions. There are many books of Ayurveda written in regional language Malayalam. These books contain uncomplicated unique formulations which can be practiced with case. Since, language becomes a barrier, people from other states may not be able to learn and use them. Hence, here is a modest effort to translate few books into English for the interest of Ayurveda Shalakya community. We take this opportunity to thank the management of Amrita school of Ayurveda and Dr Anupama. J. Dileep, Final year PG scholar, Dept of Shalakya tantra for completing the work.
