In 1989, Shobha Gurtu gave a live performance in Patna to celebrate 150 years of The Times of India. This exquisite performances was recorded live exclusively by us and is released as part of The Golden Raaga Collection.
Shobha Gurtu started singing at the age of five. She received her early training from her mother. Subsequently, she trained under Ghamman Khan in semi-classical music.
She has invented her own style of thumri. She sings thumri, ghazals, dadra and bhajans, and has attended several prestigious music conferences all over India.
