Each Community has an underlying character, and the general traits are exhibited in the conduct of most persons of that community. So, this underlying value system that runs throughout the Sikh community is the respect of women, which has been preached by the Gurus and is visible in the conduct of the followers of the Gurus. Women empowerment is a comparatively new concept; however, it has been given a totally new form and expression in the Sikh philosophy expounded by the Sikh Gurus and lifestyle taught and lived by them. The higher status accorded to women is in fact, spiritualization of women.Guru Nanak Dev inspired humanity to awaken towards their rights and motivated all men and women to attach themselves in the name of Almighty.
