On the first volume of the Spiritual Power series-Being Becoming-1 had provided a comprehensive overview of the seemingly mysterious, yet accessible world of spirituality, while the second volume-The Mask of the Absolute-delved into the essence of spirituality, and its relationship with every aspect of human existence. In this third volume, God and Beyond, I have gone deeper into the questions that bother us throughout our lives on the fundamental existence of God.
What is this play called life?
Life is nothing but a game of illusions; we go through various stages both as a watcher and a performer. Who and what you are is very different from who you think you are. The mind, on its own, plays this game and you as a watcher, witness what goes on. You make all efforts to make something out of that nothing, leaving you, at times, exhausted and wondering whether you are going to heaven or hell. What an illusion! When you become aware of this drama called life, you celebrate and see reality, the way it is and not the way the mind wishes you to see it.
As physical entities, we all pass through an illusory drama of life. The reason for the whole spectrum of living is to awaken from this ignorance. We are neither body-mind nor consciousness; it all comes from nothing and goes back into the same. Our purpose in life is to get liberated from illusions created by the mind and strive to become who we really are.
The mind keeps chattering randomly about its emotional past and incessant wants for the future. It is those past thoughts which bring in fear of the unknown and future ones that make us anxious about what lies ahead. Both the mystery of the past and future are tied with the ever-present eternal now.
The path to freedom.
We may believe that our mind is free to choose and act as it wishes. In reality, all that it does is censor the overall data, which is conditionally provided by the ego under the guise of emotions, social obligations, ethics, and morality. All these factors hinder both freedom and free will. So long as the mind is conditioned and bound by external factors, there can be no freedom.
Spirituality is one concept where free will exists in plenty. Freedom, whether it is physical or psychic, is bound with identities and attachments. You choose under pressure and your choice is biased by self-interest. Spirituality makes one free from all bindings and attachments, teaching you how to let go of all such cravings. You simply have to become aware and dig deeper within your own mind and discover the truth.
Externally, you may have that freedom to choose between any two options, but they are all prejudiced by selfish influences. Spirituality gives you the freedom to declutter your mind, making it frictionless to universally connect with an aware and conscious mind to all that is around.
