Book Description
Preface

This is a thought-provoking and inspirational text. All of us are working I and have little scope to think about real freedom. We are basically working from our minds. Just think, the sequence as described here:

We hear, touch, see, smell and/or taste something, and by that time, our respective sensory nerves send the signals to their own orb/s. This orb or the nerve center resides in our brain. The sensory nervous system detects, relays, and processes sensory information from the outside world to our brains. These 5 sense organs are known as Pancha Jnanendriya (Sabda-heat, sparsa-touch, rupa-vision, rasa-taste, Gandha-smell). The information thus received from the orb by our brain (our mind, the memory, and the intellect) is deciphered and analysed, and subsequent actions are taken by us through the respective motor nerve. There are 5 motor nerves, and they are known as Pancha Karmendriyas (Vaak-speech, paani-hands, paadau-hands, upastha-the urine excretory organ, paayu-the solid waste excretory organ).

The soul is the master of our body. We will discuss our soul in detail later. It is necessary for the soul to direct the intellect, the intellect to direct the mind, and the mind to direct the respective Karmendriya to act. However, there is a disconnect. We act based on the directives given by our minds. This is where we make a mistake. As a result of this, the wishes of our souls are ignored.

As we continuously ignore the wishes of our souls, we do not exactly know what we want. Hence, we become ignorant, and because of this ignorance, we are in continuous suffering owing to sorrows and pains, etc.

If we understand that all our sufferings are due to our own ignorance, we will try to avoid performing undesirable activities and strive for an elevated life. This way, we will be able to have freedom even while living in our present body.

There are specific injunctions and proper paths shown by our activities scriptures (Vedantas). We need to know these and perform to be free. We may come from any stream such as engineering, medicine, arts, architecture, science, politics, et al. Spiritual knowledge is necessary for all of us to be free.

Each person, irrespective of their position, is supposed to manage every activity with spirituality. We will discuss all these lifestyles as we go ahead. A farmer, an industrialist, a homemaker, a retired person, a grocer, etc., all need to adopt the path of spirituality so that they can be free in this life. This is the beauty of the path of spirituality. We should remember that every action of ours will yield results. If the actions are proper and oriented towards goodness with no balance of actions, then only reactions owing to such actions will no longer be there. Up to this point, we already know that due to our ignorance, we commit sins. These sins result in pain and suffering. To have no suffering during this life, we need to have knowledge of the Vedantas. The Vedantic texts impart knowledge to us. By practicing the various injunctions, freedom from all worries will be achievable.
