About The Book
Aum is the primordial sound - God in the reverberating form of sound eternally, from which emanated all the Vedas. They are not authored by human beings. They are timeless, and infinite in number. Proper chanting of Vedic Mantras removes the blemishes and difficulties of both the person who chants and the entire world. Bhagawan has advised: "The Vedas are the very form of God. There are many mantras to propitiate the five elements. The five elements are our very life-breath. They sustain our life... Everyone should necessarily learn the Vedas, contemplate on them and chant them wholeheartedly. When all people chant the mantras in unison and in perfect harmony, Brahman will manifest right in front of you. The sound of the Vedas is highly sacred. Whatever Vedic mantras you learn, you should be able to chant them properly. It is compulsory for everyone to learn the Vedas." Sruti is a unique book that helps you to follow and chant the Vedic Mantras day-wise, as they echo and reverberate every day in the Prasanthi Nilayam Mandir. With its help, any new aspirant can easily learn these Vedic Mantras with a little effort. This book has an introduction to Vedas, a transliteration scheme for the English version, an intonation lesson, the correct method of chanting, and also a caution on incorrect chanting. Starting with Ganapati Prarthana, it has 55 major Vedic Chants, including Sri Rudram (namakam and chamakam), several important suktams like Purushasuktam, Mahanarayananopanishad and other upanishadic mantras, ghanapathas, Aruna Prasnah, Sarva Devata Gayatri, svasti vachaka shloka and kshama prarthana.
