Fusion is the amalgam of two or more genres of music. The concept of fusion took off right from the time of rock 'n' roll, which was said to have been derived from blues. The term was first coined to differentiate 'modern' music from its traditional counterpart.
From thereon, various interpretations of fusion music emerged. Some were infused with strong jazz influences, while others were spruced up melodies with additional rhythms and experimental sounds.
Through all these improvisations and experiments, fusion music as a genre has been evolving, but has always stood to denote music that combines various musical traditions.
