About The Author
Patrick Campbell is a former professor of English and Theatre who has made Phuket his home for the last sixteen years. Ever since his upbringing in rural Worcestershire, he has been passionate about the natu-ral environment and how it can enrich all our lives. He is appalled by its unremitting destruction. A hands-on gardener, Patrick has written hundreds of articles about plants and their cultivation. He cherishes the garden, not merely as an Edenic and beautiful place, but a sanctuary for both flora and fau-na, a haven where butterflies, birds and bees can sur-vive in harmony with flowers and foliage. As this guide seeks to reveal, starting a garden from scratch in the tropics can be a frustrating, but nonethe-less eye-opening and rewarding experience.
