I am extremely happy to know that one of S.D.M faculty Dr. TB. Tripathy, who is presently Professor and H.O.D in deparment of Swasthavritta & he is practising successfully various skin disorders since 20 years and my student Dr. S. Kamalakar. Puripanda, who is presently working in consultant physician in Visakhapatnam together written a handbook on skin diseases treatment in Ayurveda entitled "Tvachyam". It had been an extremely pleasant experience going through the pages of Tvachyam.
The efforts made by the authors are appreciable for giving simple solution in the form of this publication for the benefit of undergraduates, postgraduates and practitioners for practice in skin disease treatment. An attempt is being made to give basic idea about the treatment of various Skin disorders like successful OPD prescriptions as well as successful IPD cases and different types of skin diseases with pictorial documentation. I am sure the Ayurvedic medical students and practitioners’ community will appreciate the value of this practical experience.
I pray lord Dhanwantari and Manjunatheswara to give health and strength to the authors to continue the efforts and give such contributions in the field of Ayurveda.
Practice of Ayurveda requires rich experience and exposure of different cases. Skin is having innumerable presentations. It is a biggest challenge for a physician to do proper diagnosis of different skin problems as well as to plan a suitable treatment modality. While planning the treatment Prakriti, Desha, Satmya, Kaala etc., should be considered. In this book we have tried to cover most common skin ailments and their treatment modalities in a simpler form which will be very useful for undergraduate, Postgraduate and practitioners. It will serve as an eye opener for who is stepping into profession of skin practice. Plan of treatment has been given according to stage like acute- chronic, Saama- Niraama. I hope it will serve the basic needs of the practitioners and fraternity of Ayurveda. Any suggestions or criticisms may be accepted.
