In May 1990, we arrived in India to spend one year with Sai Baba. He granted us an interview telling us to publish this book. He belssed it repeating the name three times. "vision of sai, Vision of Sai, VISION OF SAI." "You must be a Lotus unfolding its Petals when the Sun rises in the sky unaffected by the slush where it is born or even the water which sustains it!"
Introduction
An artist takes his brush and strokes until he has produced a painting, a picture on canvas. I, too, am trying to paint, a picture on the canvas of your mind through the medium of words. This picture is of Sai Baba-of unchanging everlasting Love and Light. But how do you capture Sathya Sai Baba through the framework of language and explain Him with words? It seems impossible! And yet, if you open your mind and heart holding back the barriers of pre-conceived beliefs His Light of Truth will come from His Heart directly to your heart..... Heart to heart. I am simply a story teller, not a writer, the words of Wisdom in this book are those of Sri Sathya Sai Baba. Within these pages I tell you a story about my experiences with Sai Baba and how His example and words of profound wisdom have helped me to buffer the forces of negativity prevalent in our world by teaching me what REAL LOVE means. Living with Sai Baba and His teachings is not easy. But He is teaching me to have inner strength, to fight the war of good over evil, to fail and to understand your failing. to squirm and struggle with the ills of our society's life style and the results that have torn, worn and scarred my soul and in the end to succeed in reaching my goals. He is teaching me to accept and change when possible the difficulties that occur in marriage, raising children, long term illness, a family history of drug abuse, and at the same time to accept and love myself and every being that touches my life. I use many quotes from His Divine Discourses because within His teachings lies the proof of His identity. Many people hear of His Divinity and Miracles and say "Impossible!". They stop their investigation before it even starts. What's impossible for God? Sai Baba tells us that His mission is to restore Truth, Righteousness, Peace, Love and Non-Violence because spiritual beliefs and right living were in jeopardy of being lost. Certainly we can all agree on the moral horror of our present society. Logic would have us believe that no human can correct the errors of our world. Then why is it so impossible to believe that God has come? The Christian community has been praying fervently for a second coming of Christ: then why is it so hard to believe that these prayers have been answered? Is it because our image, our concept of God, the Jesus form, is not present in Sai Baba? Be careful. Wasn't Jesus Christ crucified because he did not take the form that the Jewish community expected of God? Don't miss your precious opportunity by failing to study Sai's teachings. Many people assert that His discourses give a clear, simple and practical interpretation to complicated Scripture from every eve religion. These folk speak of an expanded understanding of old Truths, and a stirring or opening of love in their hearts. His words reach deep within us and strike a long unheard and yet familiar cord of wisdom. It re-sounds, a re-birth after a long term of silence. I personally believe that when Sathya Sai Baba speaks to us there is an endless flow of Love Energy which we experience in countless ways. I believe that each sound that comes from His Voice is saturated with Love Energy. stored in the vibration of each letter. Locked deep within each Divine word is Truth and Love and as we read or hear our eyes and ears ignite each letter and release His Energy which is within the sound of each word. The sweetness of His Love comes from each word and melts our hearts. The purity and clarity in the Truth He speaks emits Light that sparks our inner vision, illuminates our intellect and liberates our egos.
