Book Description
Preface
This book was originally written in Punjabi in February 1986 and the last 9th edition was published in April 2013. This speaks volumes of its wide acceptance by the readers all over the world. The Sikhs have acclaimed it as the tragic biography of the modern times. The attack on Darbar Sahib in 1984 was the watershed in the history of the Sikh Psyche. This prompted the author of the book to record this eventful history as seen with his own eyes and lived through it.

The present edition is rendered in English and I am privileged to write its introduction at the askance of the publishers. However, it is always difficult to write about the author who has been my esteemed father. Apart from my reverence for him, I must record that he was a divine soul. He did his M.A. English from F.C. College, Lahore in 1927 and later chose to serve as manager Gurdwara Nankana Sahib and its Estate. All his life, he remained dedicated to the cause of Sikh and Sikhism.

The present narrative is the history of Sikhs of the modern times. The injustice or betrayal of the promises made with the Sikhs speaks louder than words. It is quite traumatic to pass through the blood-stained profiles of this brave nation. It is a long trail of betrayals and deceits.

The author lived by example than precept. This book is a testimony of an eye-witness and a faithful record of history. The presence of three nations namely HINDU-MUSLIM- SIKHS in this subcontinent is illustrated as a saga of the 19th/ 20th century.
