The brilliant colors are eschewed in favour of a strong motif and pattern. A widespread opinion is that the beauty of a peacock lies in the bright colors, but the artist proves it otherwise. The peacock, does not look at its surroundings; its so full of itself, it looks only at self-pride writ large on the face and the manner it struts. The body of the bird is patterned with the wings gracefully falling. The artist has given the peacock a stylistically shaped tail, which looks as beautiful, if not better than a real one.
The artist has not placed the bird in the centre. Though most of the space is occupied by it, the flowering plant on the right gets its share of prominence. The burnt sienna colour in the background lifts the peacock into prominence. This Description by Renu Rana.
