About The Audio CD

World famous Dhrupad singer, Padmashri, Ustad Faiyaz Wasifuddin Dagar has selected four texts by the great musician Baiju Bawra who was a student of Saint Swami Haridas. Baiju Bawra was a saint poet, composer and singer, a contemporary of Miyan Tansen, you can even call him his “Gurubhai”. He belonged to that era when musicians and Nayaks used to write, compose and sing their own creations. His expertise and talent took him to the heights of those legends whose compositions, explorations and discoveries are still acknowledged with highest respect today and his music has remained alive after him ever since. In this album, he has introduced all Ragas with an Alap. Alap is a beautiful way to unfold the raga and bring out the essence of its “Swaras”. The Alap communicates its rasa much more than with the “Bandish” and also expands the raga beyond its lyrical limitations.
