Peetalu is the
traditional pedestal used for establishing idols of Gods and Goddesses. They
also have a unique role to play during South Indian marriages for the Bride and
Groom to sit and participate in the rituals. They must be ornamented and
beautiful. This Wooden Pedestal or Pelli Peetalu is the ideal arrangement for
the sitting arrangement of deities. This pedestal is made out of the finest of
wood and decorated with brass motifs. The use of annapakshi or divine peacock
symbolises the heavenly blessing upon the Bride and Groom. The pedestal is
supported on beautiful brass legs and is further beautified with ghungroos.
There is a minimalistic yet elegant use of brass jaal work on the border of the
pedestal. When looked from afar the Chowki looks eternally regal and attracts
the attention of the onlooker.
