The thing about Oriental altars is that whatever you place in it becomes your subject of worship. Usually the family idols and small paintings depicting the revered deity (or deities) are placed inside in a way that each of those are visible to the one who stands or sits before the altar in worship. Traditionally placed in the northeast corner of the house, you could place this altar - painted with traditional curvaceous Hindu motifs that constitute a repository of sacred red and gold - at a spot that gets the most of the early morning sunlight.
