The two appear side by side here. Though it is not rigidly compartmentalized, floral vines divide the two images. Four handed Lakshmi stands in all her glory on a lotus. Two elephants above her hold lotus flowers by their stems in the trunks. Her garments are divided into sections in order to incorporate different designs in various colours. Lakshmi's finery and ornaments have given fair scope to the artist to play with design and colour. Standing to her left is Ganesha. Standing in the conventional standing posture of Krishna, replete with the flute, he wears an ornamental crown and jewellery. His usual attributes are missing. Instead he holds Shiva's damaru in one hand and Vishnu's conch in the other. Two mice stand on either side of the lotus seat.
Both Lakshmi and Ganesha are together worshipped on Diwali for good luck and prosperity.
