This painting presents a dreamy atmosphere, plus numerous features, notably the sharp, angular outlining and the unusual physiognomy of the figures - the attenuated bodies, long necks, minuscule hands and narrow almond shaped eyes. The faces of the protagonists are oddly expressive in their very impassiveness. The artist also shows his preference for pinks, yellow and mauves and minimum of modeling.
The most prominent feature of the painting is the fruit laden tree with leaves in various shades of green. A variety of birds are shown sitting on the tree. In the lap of the tree lies a nest with large eggs disproportionate to the birds. A young man of high social status sits under that tree playing a stringed instrument in order to impress his beloved who is holding out a wine goblet to him. Behind her sits another woman perhaps the maid, holding a casket and a goblet. The treatment of nature and birds is trifle unrealistic but true to Iranian art Canon.
