Amoghasiddhi in Buddhism is the embodiment of the powers of the Buddha which allow the practitioner to gain control over Siddhis or abilities that pave the path to enlightenment. The Vajrayana Sadhaka evokes Amoghasiddhi for removal of fears in the quest for wisdom, which is why the statues of Amoghasiddhi depict him with his hand raised in Abhaya mudra- the gesture of removing fear.

This divine bronze statue of Amoghasiddhi presents him sitting in Padmasana (lotus posture) on a lotus pedestal, wearing a Chivara (monks’ garb). His other hand is placed in his lap in the Dhyan Mudra and his countenance carries a meditative calm, which fills the atmosphere with a heavenliness that pacifies the mind.

The Embodiment of Fearlessness

This finely crafted representation embodies one of the Five Dhyani Buddhas, who are celestial Buddhas visualized during meditation. Each represents a specific aspect of enlightened consciousness, and are not historical figures but archetypal representations of Buddhahood. Amoghasiddhi presides over the North and is associated with the element of air and the color green, symbolizing balance and harmony. He embodies the wisdom of perfect practice, the transmutation of the poison of envy into all-accomplishing wisdom. He offers refuge from fear and signifies the accomplishment of all actions. He reminds us that through diligent practice, we can overcome our anxieties and achieve our goals.

Mudras and Symbolism

The figure is seated in the lotus position on a double lotus throne, a symbol of purity and transcendence. This posture represents the stability and stillness necessary for meditation and the attainment of enlightenment. His left hand rests in his lap in the Dhyana Mudra, the gesture of meditation, while his right hand is raised in the Abhaya Mudra, the gesture of reassurance and protection. This dispels fear and offers fearlessness to all beings. The presence of the urna, the auspicious mark between the eyebrows, and the elongated earlobes, signify his renunciation of worldly possessions and his attainment of spiritual wisdom. The intricate details of the robe suggest a meticulous attention to detail, reflecting the profound respect for the deity.

Crafted in Bronze

Cast in bronze, this piece displays the strength and durability of the metal, but is cast and carved with delicacy. The use of bronze is also connected to the ancient Indian tradition of Panchaloha, a sacred alloy of five metals, each representing a specific cosmic element. This enhances the statue's spiritual and energetic properties, making it an ideal addition to a sacred space or meditation room. Displaying this work in your home can be a reminder of the potential for achieving your goals and overcoming any challenges, allowing you to find a sense of inner peace and tranquility and inspiring you to cultivate fearlessness and wisdom in your own life.
