On a lotus base, the Buddha is seated in meditation in the classic yogic posture known commonly as the lotus position(padma-asana). His robe covers both his shoulders and is marked with the eight auspicious symbols of Buddhism (ashta-mangala).

His hands, resting on each other on his lap, hold a mendicant's begging bowl. His facial expression is introspective and his head is covered with the short curls typical of a Buddha.

The cranial bump signifying transcendental wisdom and elongated earlobes are also characteristic signs of the Buddha. The three conch-like lines on his neck signify the sweetness of his voice.

Embodiment of Inner Peace: The Dhyana Mudra Buddha

This exquisite brass statue captures the profound essence of meditation and serenity, a timeless representation of the enlightened one. Seated in the traditional Dhyana Mudra, the Buddha's hands are gently cupped, one resting atop the other, symbolizing balance, concentration, and the profound emptiness that leads to wisdom. This gesture is deeply rooted in Buddhist philosophy, signifying a state of deep meditation, where the mind transcends the dualities of existence. The legendary tale of the Buddha's enlightenment under the Bodhi tree often depicts him in this very posture, having overcome the temptations of Mara, the embodiment of desire and illusion, through unwavering focus and inner peace.

Artistry and Symbolism in Brass

Handmade in India, this statue is a testament to the rich tradition of Indian craftsmanship. The skilled artisans have meticulously shaped brass, a metal revered for its durability and auspicious connotations, into a form that radiates tranquility. The contrast between the lustrous gold-toned face and body, and the silver patina applied to the robes and base, creates a visually captivating effect, enhancing the sense of divine grace. The intricate detailing on the Buddha's robes, adorned with delicate patterns, speaks of the spiritual richness and aesthetic sensibilities of the culture from which it originates. The lotus pedestal upon which the Buddha rests is a powerful symbol in Buddhism, representing purity, spiritual awakening, and the ability to rise above the muddied waters of worldly attachments to reach enlightenment.

A Beacon of Calm in Your Space

More than just a decorative piece, this Dhyana Mudra Buddha statue is an invitation to cultivate mindfulness and inner peace in your own life. Its presence can serve as a constant reminder to pause, breathe, and reconnect with your inner stillness. Whether placed in a meditation room, on an altar, or as a calming presence in your living space, it emanates an aura of peace that can positively influence your surroundings. The statue embodies the Buddha's teachings of detachment and mindfulness, offering a visual anchor for those seeking to navigate the complexities of modern life with greater equanimity. It is a powerful reminder that true peace is an internal journey, accessible through dedicated practice and a calm, focused mind.

How to keep a Brass statue well-maintained?

Brass statues are known and appreciated for their exquisite beauty and luster. The brilliant bright gold appearance of Brass makes it appropriate for casting aesthetic statues and sculptures. Brass is a metal alloy composed mainly of copper and zinc. This chemical composition makes brass a highly durable and corrosion-resistant material. Due to these properties, Brass statues and sculptures can be kept both indoors as well as outdoors. They also last for many decades without losing all their natural shine.

Brass statues can withstand even harsh weather conditions very well due to their corrosion-resistance properties. However, maintaining the luster and natural beauty of brass statues is essential if you want to prolong their life and appearance.

  • The best and simplest way to maintain a brass statue is to clean it at least twice a week using a soft cloth or cotton rag. This will prevent dust from accumulating on the surface. Dusting is especially important for outdoor statues since it is prone to dust accumulation much more than indoors.

  • To give a natural shine and luster to the statue, you may apply coconut or olive oil using cotton on every portion. You can use a toothbrush to get to the small crevices but do not be too harsh. This will make the brass statue appear fresh and new with a polished look.

  • In case you have a colored brass statue, you may apply mustard oil using a soft brush or clean cloth on the brass portion while for the colored portion of the statue, you may use coconut oil with a cotton cloth.

Brass idols of Hindu Gods and Goddesses are especially known for their intricate and detailed work of art. Nepalese sculptures are famous for small brass idols portraying Buddhist deities. These sculptures are beautified with gold gilding and inlay of precious or semi-precious stones. Religious brass statues can be kept at home altars. You can keep a decorative brass statue in your garden or roof to embellish the area and fill it with divinity.
