Embodiment of Compassion and Grace

This exquisite brass statue captures the serene and compassionate presence of White Tara, a revered female Bodhisattva in Mahayana Buddhism. Known as the "Mother of Liberation," White Tara is an emanation of Avalokiteshvara, the Bodhisattva of Compassion, and is associated with longevity, healing, and protection from fear and suffering. Her white color symbolizes purity and spiritual attainment, and she is often depicted seated on a lotus throne, a symbol of purity and enlightenment emerging from the mud of worldly attachment. In Buddhist mythology, White Tara is said to have sprung from a tear shed by Avalokiteshvara upon witnessing the suffering of sentient beings. This tear transformed into a blooming lotus, from which White Tara emerged, radiating light and offering solace and guidance. She is often invoked for protection against illness, for long life, and for the removal of obstacles and the pacification of inner and outer turmoil. Her seven eyes—three on her forehead, one on each palm, and one on each sole—represent her omnipresent awareness and her ability to see all beings and their needs.

Artistic Craftsmanship and Divine Aura

This finely crafted brass statue showcases the meticulous artistry involved in traditional Buddhist icon-making. The deity is depicted in the traditional seated posture, with her legs crossed in a meditative stance. Her right hand is extended in the gesture of *varada mudra*, bestowing blessings and fulfilling wishes, while her left hand, resting on her knee, holds the stem of a lotus flower, symbolizing her purity and spiritual unfolding. The delicate rendering of her facial features—the gentle smile, the closed eyes signifying inner contemplation, and the serene expression—convey a profound sense of peace and compassion. The deity is adorned with elaborate jewelry, including a multi-tiered crown, earrings, necklaces, and bracelets, all finely detailed and adding to her regal and divine aura. The intricate patterns on her robes and the ornate lotus base further enhance the visual richness of the piece. The use of brass, a material known for its durability and its ability to hold intricate details, allows for the preservation of these delicate features for generations. The subtle patina adds a sense of antiquity and spiritual depth, inviting contemplation and spiritual connection. This statue is not merely an object of art but a powerful symbol of hope, healing, and the boundless compassion that guides beings towards enlightenment.

How to keep a Brass statue well-maintained?

Brass statues are known and appreciated for their exquisite beauty and luster. The brilliant bright gold appearance of Brass makes it appropriate for casting aesthetic statues and sculptures. Brass is a metal alloy composed mainly of copper and zinc. This chemical composition makes brass a highly durable and corrosion-resistant material. Due to these properties, Brass statues and sculptures can be kept both indoors as well as outdoors. They also last for many decades without losing all their natural shine.

Brass statues can withstand even harsh weather conditions very well due to their corrosion-resistance properties. However, maintaining the luster and natural beauty of brass statues is essential if you want to prolong their life and appearance.

  • The best and simplest way to maintain a brass statue is to clean it at least twice a week using a soft cloth or cotton rag. This will prevent dust from accumulating on the surface. Dusting is especially important for outdoor statues since it is prone to dust accumulation much more than indoors.

  • To give a natural shine and luster to the statue, you may apply coconut or olive oil using cotton on every portion. You can use a toothbrush to get to the small crevices but do not be too harsh. This will make the brass statue appear fresh and new with a polished look.

  • In case you have a colored brass statue, you may apply mustard oil using a soft brush or clean cloth on the brass portion while for the colored portion of the statue, you may use coconut oil with a cotton cloth.

Brass idols of Hindu Gods and Goddesses are especially known for their intricate and detailed work of art. Nepalese sculptures are famous for small brass idols portraying Buddhist deities. These sculptures are beautified with gold gilding and inlay of precious or semi-precious stones. Religious brass statues can be kept at home altars. You can keep a decorative brass statue in your garden or roof to embellish the area and fill it with divinity.
