Embrace Compassion and Protection

This exquisite brass statue depicts Green Tara, a revered Bodhisattva in Tibetan Buddhism, embodying compassion, protection, and the swift response to prayers. Crafted with meticulous detail by skilled artisans in India, this divine representation invites a sense of peace and spiritual presence into your home or meditation space. The lustrous brass material lends an aura of timeless elegance and durability, ensuring this sacred image will be a cherished focal point for years to come. ——

The Radiant Bodhisattva

Green Tara is often depicted as a youthful goddess, seated in a relaxed posture with one leg extended, symbolizing her readiness to spring into action to aid those in need. Her serene expression and gentle gaze exude an aura of wisdom and boundless compassion. In her right hand, she displays the gesture of *varada mudra*, the boon-granting gesture, signifying her ability to bestow blessings and fulfill wishes. Her left hand holds the stem of a lotus flower, a potent symbol of purity, enlightenment, and the blossoming of spiritual potential. The lotus, often depicted in various stages of bloom, represents the journey from ignorance to awakening. The vibrant green hue, when depicted in paintings, signifies her active and dynamic nature, akin to the verdant growth of the earth. ——

Myths and Meanings

According to legend, Tara emerged from a tear shed by the Buddha of Compassion, Avalokiteshvara, as he wept for the suffering of the world. Her spontaneous manifestation as a powerful female Bodhisattva underscored the belief that enlightenment is accessible to all beings, regardless of gender. She is known as the "Mother of Liberation" and is believed to protect against the eight fears, commonly interpreted as the dangers of pride, delusion, anger, jealousy, wrong views, attachment, miserliness, and worldly desires. Her presence is said to grant protection, overcome obstacles, and lead devotees towards spiritual awakening and freedom from suffering. This brass rendition captures her essence, offering a tangible connection to her benevolent energy. ——

An Artisan's Masterpiece

Each detail of this statue, from the intricate crown adorning her head to the delicate folds of her garment, is a testament to the artistry and devotion poured into its creation. The rich patina of the brass is achieved through traditional methods, imbuing the piece with a depth and character that only time and skilled craftsmanship can provide. The base on which she sits is intricately carved, further enhancing the aesthetic appeal and spiritual significance of the sculpture. This is more than just a decorative object; it is a conduit for divine grace, a reminder of the omnipresent compassion that guides and protects us.

How to keep a Brass statue well-maintained?

Brass statues are known and appreciated for their exquisite beauty and luster. The brilliant bright gold appearance of Brass makes it appropriate for casting aesthetic statues and sculptures. Brass is a metal alloy composed mainly of copper and zinc. This chemical composition makes brass a highly durable and corrosion-resistant material. Due to these properties, Brass statues and sculptures can be kept both indoors as well as outdoors. They also last for many decades without losing all their natural shine.

Brass statues can withstand even harsh weather conditions very well due to their corrosion-resistance properties. However, maintaining the luster and natural beauty of brass statues is essential if you want to prolong their life and appearance.

  • The best and simplest way to maintain a brass statue is to clean it at least twice a week using a soft cloth or cotton rag. This will prevent dust from accumulating on the surface. Dusting is especially important for outdoor statues since it is prone to dust accumulation much more than indoors.

  • To give a natural shine and luster to the statue, you may apply coconut or olive oil using cotton on every portion. You can use a toothbrush to get to the small crevices but do not be too harsh. This will make the brass statue appear fresh and new with a polished look.

  • In case you have a colored brass statue, you may apply mustard oil using a soft brush or clean cloth on the brass portion while for the colored portion of the statue, you may use coconut oil with a cotton cloth.

Brass idols of Hindu Gods and Goddesses are especially known for their intricate and detailed work of art. Nepalese sculptures are famous for small brass idols portraying Buddhist deities. These sculptures are beautified with gold gilding and inlay of precious or semi-precious stones. Religious brass statues can be kept at home altars. You can keep a decorative brass statue in your garden or roof to embellish the area and fill it with divinity.
