The Divine Compassion of Green Tara

This exquisite brass statue embodies the serene and compassionate presence of Green Tara, a beloved bodhisattva in Tibetan Buddhism. Her form radiates an aura of gentle strength and unwavering kindness, offering solace and protection to all beings. In Buddhist mythology, Green Tara is said to have emerged from a tear of Avalokiteshvara, the Bodhisattva of Compassion, when he beheld the suffering of the world. Her birth from the tear signifies her deep empathy and her immediate responsiveness to the pleas of those in distress. She is often depicted as a youthful goddess, eternally in the bloom of her compassion, ready to descend and offer aid at any moment. ––––––––––––––––––––

Artistry and Symbolism

Crafted with meticulous care by skilled artisans in India, this statue is a testament to traditional artistic heritage. The intricate details, from the delicate ornamentation of her crown and necklaces to the graceful curves of her limbs, speak of a profound understanding of her iconography. Green Tara is known by many epithets, including "She Who Ferries Across," "Mother of Liberation," and "The Star of the Dharma," each highlighting her active role in guiding practitioners towards enlightenment and overcoming obstacles. Her posture, the relaxed posture of royal ease (lalitasana), with one leg pendant, signifies her readiness to stand and offer help. Her right hand, in the gesture of *varada mudra* (boon-giving), bestows blessings and fulfills wishes, while her left hand, in *abhaya mudra* (fear-not gesture), assures protection and dispels all anxieties. The lotus flowers that subtly adorn the statue symbolize purity and spiritual awakening, as the lotus grows unstained from the mud. ––––––––––––––––––––

A Beacon of Hope and Enlightenment

The vibrant yet harmonious combination of brass with its contrasting patinas of silver and copper creates a visually arresting piece that draws the eye and soothes the spirit. This statue serves as a powerful reminder of the enlightened qualities of compassion, wisdom, and swift action. In Tibetan culture, Green Tara is invoked for protection against fear, danger, and worldly distractions, as well as for the attainment of spiritual growth. Her followers believe that by chanting her mantra and meditating on her form, they can overcome inner and outer challenges and cultivate the same boundless compassion that defines her. This handmade masterpiece is not merely a decorative object but a sacred vessel, inviting devotion and fostering a sense of peace and spiritual connection within your sacred space. Its substantial size ensures it becomes a focal point, a tangible representation of divine grace and accessible enlightenment.

How to keep a Brass statue well-maintained?

Brass statues are known and appreciated for their exquisite beauty and luster. The brilliant bright gold appearance of Brass makes it appropriate for casting aesthetic statues and sculptures. Brass is a metal alloy composed mainly of copper and zinc. This chemical composition makes brass a highly durable and corrosion-resistant material. Due to these properties, Brass statues and sculptures can be kept both indoors as well as outdoors. They also last for many decades without losing all their natural shine.

Brass statues can withstand even harsh weather conditions very well due to their corrosion-resistance properties. However, maintaining the luster and natural beauty of brass statues is essential if you want to prolong their life and appearance.

  • The best and simplest way to maintain a brass statue is to clean it at least twice a week using a soft cloth or cotton rag. This will prevent dust from accumulating on the surface. Dusting is especially important for outdoor statues since it is prone to dust accumulation much more than indoors.

  • To give a natural shine and luster to the statue, you may apply coconut or olive oil using cotton on every portion. You can use a toothbrush to get to the small crevices but do not be too harsh. This will make the brass statue appear fresh and new with a polished look.

  • In case you have a colored brass statue, you may apply mustard oil using a soft brush or clean cloth on the brass portion while for the colored portion of the statue, you may use coconut oil with a cotton cloth.

Brass idols of Hindu Gods and Goddesses are especially known for their intricate and detailed work of art. Nepalese sculptures are famous for small brass idols portraying Buddhist deities. These sculptures are beautified with gold gilding and inlay of precious or semi-precious stones. Religious brass statues can be kept at home altars. You can keep a decorative brass statue in your garden or roof to embellish the area and fill it with divinity.
