The Divine Visage of Mahadeva

Immerse your space in the profound mystique of Lord Shiva with this exquisite brass wall hanging. Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, this piece captures the serene yet powerful countenance of the divine ascetic, Mahadeva. The artist has skillfully rendered the iconic features of Shiva, from the tranquil closed eyes that signify deep meditation to the third eye, the Trinetra, etched on the forehead, symbolizing supreme knowledge and the destruction of ignorance. This Trinetra is not merely an artistic element; it is a potent symbol in Hindu iconography, representing Shiva's capacity to perceive beyond the ordinary and to incinerate delusion with a glance. ––––––––––––––––––––

Symbols of Cosmic Power and Protection

Adorning the serene face are two majestic cobras, their hooded forms coiled protectively around Shiva's head. In Hindu tradition, the serpent, particularly the Naga, is deeply intertwined with Shiva's lore. The most prominent is Vasuki, the king of serpents, who coiled around Shiva's neck like a garland, symbolizing the taming of ego and the conquest over fear. The cobras here also represent Kundalini Shakti, the primal cosmic energy that lies dormant within all beings, which Shiva, as the supreme Yogi, has mastered. The crescent moon, another of Shiva's adornments, sits subtly atop his matted locks, representing his control over time and the cycles of existence. ––––––––––––––––––––

Artistry and Heritage

This striking wall hanging is fashioned from solid brass, a material revered for its durability and ability to hold intricate designs. The hand-finished patina adds a layer of depth and character, with subtle variations in color that speak to the artisanal process. The rich, warm tones of the brass are complemented by darker patinated accents, highlighting the textures and contours of the sculpture, from the intricate waves of Shiva's hair to the scaled patterns of the cobras. Each piece is a testament to the enduring legacy of Indian craftsmanship, where art and spirituality converge to create objects of profound beauty and devotional significance. This brass sculpture, originating from India, embodies centuries of tradition in metalwork, bringing an authentic piece of cultural heritage into your home.

How to keep a Brass statue well-maintained?

Brass statues are known and appreciated for their exquisite beauty and luster. The brilliant bright gold appearance of Brass makes it appropriate for casting aesthetic statues and sculptures. Brass is a metal alloy composed mainly of copper and zinc. This chemical composition makes brass a highly durable and corrosion-resistant material. Due to these properties, Brass statues and sculptures can be kept both indoors as well as outdoors. They also last for many decades without losing all their natural shine.

Brass statues can withstand even harsh weather conditions very well due to their corrosion-resistance properties. However, maintaining the luster and natural beauty of brass statues is essential if you want to prolong their life and appearance.

  • The best and simplest way to maintain a brass statue is to clean it at least twice a week using a soft cloth or cotton rag. This will prevent dust from accumulating on the surface. Dusting is especially important for outdoor statues since it is prone to dust accumulation much more than indoors.

  • To give a natural shine and luster to the statue, you may apply coconut or olive oil using cotton on every portion. You can use a toothbrush to get to the small crevices but do not be too harsh. This will make the brass statue appear fresh and new with a polished look.

  • In case you have a colored brass statue, you may apply mustard oil using a soft brush or clean cloth on the brass portion while for the colored portion of the statue, you may use coconut oil with a cotton cloth.

Brass idols of Hindu Gods and Goddesses are especially known for their intricate and detailed work of art. Nepalese sculptures are famous for small brass idols portraying Buddhist deities. These sculptures are beautified with gold gilding and inlay of precious or semi-precious stones. Religious brass statues can be kept at home altars. You can keep a decorative brass statue in your garden or roof to embellish the area and fill it with divinity.
