Lord Vishnu is one of three supreme deities in Hinduism. While Brahma creates and Shiva destroys the universe, the role of Vishnu is to preserve and protect the universe.
Vishnu is infinite, that is, he has no start and no end, he was never born, and he is never going to die. He exists beyond the realm of time ever resting in the middle of mythical 'Kheersagar'.
A whole sect of people are devoted to the worship of Vishnu as the supreme lord of the universe who are also known as Vaishnavites.
