Adorned with a magnificent multi-headed cobra hood, symbolizing divine protection and cosmic power, Vishnu is depicted with his characteristic attributes. In his upper right hand, he holds the Sudarshana Chakra, a celestial discus representing the wheel of time and the destruction of evil. His upper left hand cradles the Shankha, a conch shell that proclaims victory and awakens spiritual consciousness. Originating from Swamimalai, a renowned center of South Indian bronze casting, this intricate process involves sculpting the form in wax, encasing it in clay, and then firing it to melt away the wax, leaving a hollow mold. Molten Panchaloha – a sacred alloy of five metals (gold, silver, copper, zinc, and tin) – is then poured into this mold.
