“Prati” (reverse) and “Angiras” (attack)- Pratyangira is the goddess who guards against the attack of enemies, seen and unseen.

A Teevra (ferocious) deity, goddess Pratyangira is a powerful Hindu-Tantric god, evoked as Atharvan-Bhadra Kali, the presiding deity of Atharva Veda and its chants.

In the Kalikrama Tantra, she is connected to a goddess called “Tvarita” (the quick one) and accompanies Narasimha as his Shakti.

Identified as Narasimhi and Simhamukhi by devotees due to her striking lion head, Pratyangria is represented as a potent mother goddess, riding a majestic lion, carrying damru, Trishul, severed head, and sarpa and is adorned with jewels and a garland of skulls, with a fiery aureole and serpent flanking her.

She is seated in Lalitasana, a reminder that she is also revered as the embodiment of the wrath of Lalila-Tripurasundari.

Sculpted in a rounded manner, the icon represents the femininity and formidability of Pratyangira, a goddess unparalleled.

Introducing the Majestic Goddess Pratyangira

This breathtaking 20-inch bronze statue of Goddess Pratyangira, also known as Atharvana Bhadrakali, is a testament to the exquisite artistry of Indian craftsmanship. Crafted from Panchaloha—a sacred five-metal alloy—this statue embodies the powerful and protective energy of this fierce yet benevolent form of the Divine Mother. The intricate details, from the flowing folds of her garments to the expressive features of her face, are meticulously rendered, revealing the dedication and skill of the artisans who brought her to life. The rich, warm tones of the bronze further enhance the statue's captivating presence. Seated majestically upon a lion, she holds the symbols of her power, radiating both strength and grace.

The Legend of Pratyangira: Protector of the Devotees

Goddess Pratyangira, a fearsome manifestation of Kali, is a powerful protector and remover of obstacles. Her name itself signifies "she who protects from all sides," highlighting her all-encompassing power. Emerging from the Atharvaveda, one of the four primary texts of Hinduism, she's depicted as a fierce warrior goddess, ready to defend her devotees against any threat. Often called upon in times of danger or adversity, Pratyangira is believed to ward off evil forces and grant protection to those who seek her grace. Her association with the lion, a symbol of courage and strength, further amplifies her powerful presence. The five-headed cobra above her head represents the five elements of nature (earth, water, fire, air, and ether) symbolizing her control over cosmic forces. She is a reminder that divine protection is always available for those in need.

Artistic Craftsmanship and Symbolic Details

The statue is a masterpiece of bronze casting, showcasing traditional techniques passed down through generations. The detailed craftsmanship is evident in every element of the sculpture; each strand of the Goddess's hair, each intricate detail of the lion’s mane and the serpent hood. The Panchaloha alloy—a blend of gold, silver, copper, brass, and zinc—is not merely aesthetically pleasing but also carries spiritual significance in Hindu tradition. Each metal is associated with a specific element, further enhancing the goddess's connection with the cosmos. The lion, her mount, is not simply a decorative feature; it symbolizes her regal status and unwavering resolve. The Goddess’s weapons and adornments, such as the Trishul (trident), and the garland of skulls (signifying the destruction of ego and illusion), carry potent symbolic meaning, enhancing her formidable presence. The overall size and detailed composition of this piece add to its commanding appeal.

A Powerful Addition to Your Sacred Space

This 20-inch Superfine Goddess Pratyangira statue is more than just a decorative item. It is a powerful symbol of divine protection, courage, and strength.
