22" Brass Kirtimukha Prabhavali (Arch)

$288
Includes any tariffs and taxes

Prabhavali is the name given to the majestic brass arch that stands behind the idols in the local tongue. This Prabhavali is an excellent piece of deity-positioning apparatus. At the heart of the arch is a legendary monster named Kirtimukha. Peacocks may be seen around the halo and stand junction. On either side of the Prabhavali, two Yalis are elegantly set. A center plate with a hole for installing and fastening the statue also aids the arch. Kirtimukha, the guardian image, is supposed to have an enormous protecting energy, making it an ideal choice for the Alamkara or deity ornamentation.

A Gateway to Divine Radiance

Elevate your sacred space with this exquisite brass Kirtimukha Prabhavali, an ornamental arch that embodies auspiciousness and protection. Crafted from lustrous brass, this piece is more than just a decorative item; it is a conduit of spiritual energy, a testament to ancient artistry, and a gateway to divine radiance. Its imposing size and intricate detailing make it a commanding presence in any puja room, altar, or home temple, serving as a sublime backdrop for your deity or a statement piece on its own.

The Majestic Kirtimukha: Guardian of the Sacred

At the apex of this magnificent arch, the Kirtimukha, the "Face of Glory," presides. This powerful motif, often depicted as a fierce, leonine visage with gaping jaws and curling tendrils, is a symbol of protection against evil spirits and negative energies. Legend tells of a celestial battle where the demon Rahu, seeking immortality, was granted a head but no body by Vishnu. In his insatiable hunger, Rahu began to devour the sun and moon. Shiva, angered by this act, unleashed his fury in the form of Narasimha, an avatar with a lion's head. Narasimha's terrifying roar was so potent that it emanated a face of immense power, the Kirtimukha, which subdued Rahu. This protective face is thus believed to ward off all malevolent forces, ensuring the sanctity and peace of the space it adorns.

A Symphony of Mythological Motifs

The Kirtimukha Prabhavali is richly adorned with traditional iconography, each element carrying its own symbolic weight. Flanking the Kirtimukha are graceful peacocks, the Vahana (vehicle) of Lord Kartikeya, signifying beauty, grace, and prosperity. Below these, on the supportive columns, stand majestic Yalis, mythical creatures often depicted as part-lion, part-elephant, or part-horse. The Yali, a powerful guardian, represents strength, courage, and the triumphant overcoming of obstacles. These creatures, rooted in ancient South Indian temple architecture, are thought to possess immense power, capable of destroying any negativity that dares to approach. The entire composition is a harmonious blend of protective deities and auspicious symbols, creating a visual narrative of divine power and sacred guardianship.

Artistry of Enduring Brass

Cast in solid brass, this Prabhavali possesses a warm, golden hue that deepens and develops a rich patina over time, adding to its character and spiritual depth. The metal itself is considered sacred in many traditions, known for its durability and its ability to hold and transmit positive energies. The meticulous craftsmanship evident in every curve and detail speaks to the skill of the artisans who created this piece, preserving a legacy of traditional metalwork. Whether you are seeking to enhance your daily rituals, create a focal point for meditation, or simply bring a touch of divine artistry into your home, this Kirtimukha Prabhavali offers a profound connection to spiritual heritage and timeless beauty.
