Goddess Raja Matangi Devi is a very powerful manifestation of Shakti (divine feminine force). She is the ninth of the Dasha Mahavidyas and a combination of the three Shaktis (Lakshmi, Saraswati, and Parvati), embodying riches, wisdom, and courage. She is the source of speech, music, wisdom, and the arts. This Small Copper Statue is a homage to the benevolent image of the goddess.

It shows her graceful iconography. She sits in the Rajalilasana posture with two of her hands holding the goad and noose while two parrots sit on two of her other hands. She holds and plays the veena with her lower hands. This statue of Raja-Matangi is a smiling and benign image of the Goddess of wisdom and virtues, and worshiping it ensures an ongoing influx of the same attributes.

The Divine Musician

Behold, a finely crafted representation of the divine Raja-Matangi, rendered in the rich, earthy tones of copper. This statue captures the essence of the Hindu goddess, a powerful embodiment of inner power, artistic mastery, and the spoken word. Seated in a pose of graceful repose, she holds the veena, an ancient stringed instrument emblematic of music, harmony, and the celestial sounds of the universe. Her serene expression hints at the profound wisdom she embodies. The statue rests upon a square base, a grounding presence for this celestial figure.

Craftsmanship and Materials

This piece is cast in copper, known for its durability and beauty. Measuring approximately 3.7 inches in height, 3.2 inches in width, and 2.0 inches in depth, this compact statue makes a significant spiritual statement without dominating a space. The careful detailing brings forth the intricate features of the goddess and her accoutrements, from the delicate carvings on the veena to the serene lines of her face.

Raja-Matangi: Goddess of Inner Radiance

Matangi is revered as one of the ten Mahavidyas, tantric goddesses who represent the ten aspects of divine wisdom. She is often associated with the spoken word, music, and all forms of creative expression. As Raja-Matangi, she embodies the regal aspect of this powerful deity, bestowing her blessings upon those who seek knowledge, eloquence, and mastery of the arts. Her devotees believe she enhances their ability to communicate effectively, strengthens their creative powers, and grants them access to deeper levels of understanding. Raja-Matangi is seen as the form of Matangi that is closest to royalty, symbolizing her power and authority within the divine realm.

Auspicious Symbols

Observe the birds perched delicately on her hands. They represent her mastery over the senses and her connection to the natural world. Matangi is often depicted with parrots, creatures known for their mimicry and connection to speech. These birds symbolize the goddess’s control over language, communication, and the power of the voice. Placing this statue in your home or studio can serve as a constant reminder of the potential for creativity and the importance of using one's voice wisely and artfully. Her presence is believed to invoke clarity of thought, enhance artistic abilities, and foster a harmonious environment.
