A Celestial Embrace: The Shivalinga Adorned by Sheshnag

This exquisite brass creation captures a profound moment of divine repose, embodying the multifaceted essence of Lord Shiva. At its heart stands a beautifully rendered Shivalinga, the aniconic representation of the destroyer and transformer, the ultimate cosmic consciousness. The lustrous brass lends a warm, inviting glow to this sacred form, making it a captivating focal point for any devotional space or meditation corner. ––––––––––––––––––––

The Serpent's Protection: Sheshnag's Divine Vigil

Crowning the Shivalinga is the majestic Sheshnag, the primordial serpent king upon whom Lord Vishnu is often depicted resting. Sheshnag, also known as Adi Shesha, is a powerful cosmic entity representing eternity and the unmanifested universe. Here, his seven hoods unfurl in a protective embrace over the Shivalinga, symbolizing Shiva's transcendence over time and mortality. The intricate detailing of Sheshnag's scales and the serene, watchful expression on his faces convey a sense of unwavering guardianship and cosmic balance. The cobra, a recurring motif in Hindu iconography, is associated with Shiva, often depicted around his neck, signifying his control over primal energies and his ability to overcome fear and death. ––––––––––––––––––––

The Sacred Vessel: A Multifaceted Representation

The Shivalinga is nestled within a decorative vessel, designed with a spouted head resembling Nandi, Shiva's sacred bull and devoted mount. Nandi, embodying strength, loyalty, and dharma, stands as a silent sentinel, further enhancing the devotional aura of the piece. The base of the vessel is adorned with traditional motifs, showcasing the artistry and reverence poured into its creation. This ensemble—the Shivalinga, Sheshnag, and Nandi—forms a powerful trinity of divine symbolism, each element contributing to a rich tapestry of meaning. This idol serves not merely as an object of aesthetic beauty but as a tangible link to the profound philosophical and spiritual narratives that have shaped Indian culture for millennia. It is an heirloom piece, crafted with enduring materials, designed to be passed down through generations, carrying with it blessings and a connection to the divine.

How to keep a Brass statue well-maintained?

Brass statues are known and appreciated for their exquisite beauty and luster. The brilliant bright gold appearance of Brass makes it appropriate for casting aesthetic statues and sculptures. Brass is a metal alloy composed mainly of copper and zinc. This chemical composition makes brass a highly durable and corrosion-resistant material. Due to these properties, Brass statues and sculptures can be kept both indoors as well as outdoors. They also last for many decades without losing all their natural shine.

Brass statues can withstand even harsh weather conditions very well due to their corrosion-resistance properties. However, maintaining the luster and natural beauty of brass statues is essential if you want to prolong their life and appearance.

  • The best and simplest way to maintain a brass statue is to clean it at least twice a week using a soft cloth or cotton rag. This will prevent dust from accumulating on the surface. Dusting is especially important for outdoor statues since it is prone to dust accumulation much more than indoors.

  • To give a natural shine and luster to the statue, you may apply coconut or olive oil using cotton on every portion. You can use a toothbrush to get to the small crevices but do not be too harsh. This will make the brass statue appear fresh and new with a polished look.

  • In case you have a colored brass statue, you may apply mustard oil using a soft brush or clean cloth on the brass portion while for the colored portion of the statue, you may use coconut oil with a cotton cloth.

Brass idols of Hindu Gods and Goddesses are especially known for their intricate and detailed work of art. Nepalese sculptures are famous for small brass idols portraying Buddhist deities. These sculptures are beautified with gold gilding and inlay of precious or semi-precious stones. Religious brass statues can be kept at home altars. You can keep a decorative brass statue in your garden or roof to embellish the area and fill it with divinity.
