The Preserver

Vishnu, the preserver of the universe in the Hindu Trimurti, alongside Brahma the creator and Shiva the destroyer, embodies the qualities of mercy, goodness, and self-existence. He is the deity who maintains cosmic order (dharma) and protects the world from chaos. Vishnu incarnates in various forms (avatars) throughout history to restore balance and righteousness whenever dharma declines. His ten primary avatars are widely celebrated, each representing a different aspect of his divine power and compassion, intervening to save humanity from peril. Some of his most well known avatars include Rama, Krishna, Narasimha, and more. Worship of Vishnu is deeply ingrained in Hindu traditions, with devotees offering prayers, performing rituals, and celebrating festivals dedicated to his various forms. His presence is invoked to ensure well-being, prosperity, and spiritual growth. His iconography, often depicted with a dark blue complexion, adorned with royal garments, and holding symbolic objects, emphasizes his universal sovereignty and benevolence.

Lakshmi, The Goddess of Fortune

Seated intimately with Vishnu, Lakshmi embodies wealth, prosperity (both material and spiritual), light, wisdom, fortune, fertility, generosity and courage. She is not merely associated with financial abundance but with the abundance of all good things in life, including health, happiness, and wisdom. As the consort of Vishnu, she complements his preserving role, ensuring the universe is sustained by both material and spiritual sustenance. Devotees seek Lakshmi's blessings for success in their endeavors, for the removal of obstacles, and for the attainment of a fulfilling life. Her presence in a home or business is believed to bring good fortune and harmony. She is often depicted seated on a lotus flower, a symbol of purity and enlightenment, radiating divine beauty and grace.

The Kirtimukha Throne

Vishnu and Lakshmi are seated on a throne that's capped with a Kirtimukha. The Kirtimukha, also known as the "Face of Glory," is a fierce and powerful protective figure that appears prominently in Hindu and Buddhist iconography. Often depicted as a grotesque face with bulging eyes, sharp teeth, and a gaping mouth, its appearance is meant to ward off evil spirits and negative energies, guarding sacred spaces and deities. According to legend, Kirtimukha originated from a tale of Shiva, the destroyer god, who created the fearsome being to devour himself upon the order to consume all his desires. Impressed by Kirtimukha's unwavering obedience, Shiva declared that the image of this creature should adorn the entrances of temples and sacred spaces, symbolizing the consumption of ego and the protection of righteousness. In effect, Kirtimukha is not an evil demon or monster, instead it is a gatekeeper and protector of holy spaces.

Crafted in Copper

This meticulously crafted copper statue captures Vishnu and Lakshmi seated together, crowned above with the Kirtimukha. Copper, known for its conductive properties, is considered a sacred metal in many traditions, believed to enhance the flow of energy and spirituality. The statue's design, though compact in size, is rich in detail, reflecting the divine beauty and serenity of the deities. This piece serves not only as a decorative accent but also as a powerful symbol of protection, prosperity, and spiritual well-being, making it a meaningful addition to any home or sacred space. With dimensions of 4.0 x 2.7 x 2.0 inches, it can fit beautifully in smaller spaces or as part of a larger collection.
