Lord Kartikeya, the son of Shiva and Parvati, was the great commander of the gods' army, born to battle the demon Tarakasura. The Goddess Parvati is said to have given her energies to Kartikeya in the shape of a Bhala, or spear. Lord Kartikeya's primary weapon was this tremendous spear. The lord is always shown with this weapon in southern Indian art. This brass spear has a Tripundra, which represents Shiva's threefold strength of will (icchashakti), knowledge (gyanashakti), and action (kriyashakti). Aum is written in Tamil on the other side. With all of these holy signs, this spear becomes a bearer of the greatest auspicious power, capable of eradicating all unholiness and bringing wealth to a household.

Embodiment of Divine Power

This magnificent brass representation of the Vel, the divine spear of Lord Karttikeya, is a powerful symbol of spiritual authority and victory. Lord Karttikeya, also known as Murugan, Skanda, or Subrahmanya, is the Hindu god of war, victory, and wisdom. He is the son of Shiva and Parvati, and is revered for his courage, strength, and unwavering devotion. The Vel is his primary weapon, bestowed upon him by his mother, Parvati, to vanquish the demon Surapadma and his formidable army, thus restoring balance and righteousness to the cosmos.

A Symbol of Faith and Resilience

The Vel is more than just a weapon; it's a spiritual conduit. Its sharp point represents piercing through ignorance and illusion, leading one to enlightenment. The elongated shaft signifies the divine journey and the steadfast path towards spiritual liberation. In South Indian traditions, particularly in temples dedicated to Lord Karttikeya, the Vel is an object of deep veneration. Pilgrims often undertake arduous journeys to witness the Vel and seek its blessings for strength, protection, and success in their endeavors. This handcrafted brass Vel embodies that same potent energy, making it a cherished addition to any home altar or spiritual space.

Craftsmanship and Auspiciousness

Each Vel is meticulously handcrafted from high-quality brass, ensuring a piece that is not only spiritually significant but also aesthetically pleasing. The intricate detailing on the spearhead, featuring a delicate lotus motif and the sacred "Om" symbol, further enhances its divine aura. The lotus, a symbol of purity, spiritual awakening, and prosperity, blooms even in muddy waters, signifying the ability to overcome obstacles. The presence of the "Om" symbol, the primordial sound of the universe, imbues the Vel with cosmic energy and spiritual resonance. The warm, golden hue of the brass adds a touch of timeless elegance, making this Vel a statement piece that radiates divinity.

Invoking Blessings and Protection

Keeping a Vel in your home is believed to invoke the divine presence of Lord Karttikeya, offering protection from negative forces and obstacles. It is a powerful tool for meditation, aiding in focusing the mind and connecting with the divine. Many devotees use the Vel during puja rituals, offering prayers for courage, wisdom, and the strength to overcome life's challenges. Whether you are a devout follower of Lord Karttikeya or simply seeking a symbol of spiritual power and protection, this exquisite brass Vel serves as a constant reminder of divine might and the triumph of good over evil. It is an heirloom-quality piece, destined to be cherished for generations.

How to keep a Brass statue well-maintained?

Brass statues are known and appreciated for their exquisite beauty and luster. The brilliant bright gold appearance of Brass makes it appropriate for casting aesthetic statues and sculptures. Brass is a metal alloy composed mainly of copper and zinc. This chemical composition makes brass a highly durable and corrosion-resistant material. Due to these properties, Brass statues and sculptures can be kept both indoors as well as outdoors. They also last for many decades without losing all their natural shine.

Brass statues can withstand even harsh weather conditions very well due to their corrosion-resistance properties. However, maintaining the luster and natural beauty of brass statues is essential if you want to prolong their life and appearance.

  • The best and simplest way to maintain a brass statue is to clean it at least twice a week using a soft cloth or cotton rag. This will prevent dust from accumulating on the surface. Dusting is especially important for outdoor statues since it is prone to dust accumulation much more than indoors.

  • To give a natural shine and luster to the statue, you may apply coconut or olive oil using cotton on every portion. You can use a toothbrush to get to the small crevices but do not be too harsh. This will make the brass statue appear fresh and new with a polished look.

  • In case you have a colored brass statue, you may apply mustard oil using a soft brush or clean cloth on the brass portion while for the colored portion of the statue, you may use coconut oil with a cotton cloth.

Brass idols of Hindu Gods and Goddesses are especially known for their intricate and detailed work of art. Nepalese sculptures are famous for small brass idols portraying Buddhist deities. These sculptures are beautified with gold gilding and inlay of precious or semi-precious stones. Religious brass statues can be kept at home altars. You can keep a decorative brass statue in your garden or roof to embellish the area and fill it with divinity.
