Arch inside Dimensions -

27 inch Height X 16 inch Width X 6 inch Depth

A life-size aureole to house your favourite deity. The Sanskrt word for aureole is prabhavali, which translates to an extended quantum (‘vali’) of flame (‘prabha’). In terms of the visual arts, it captures the aura of the deity contained therein.

The sculpture that you see on this page is a standalone prabhavali with a flat-topped plinth underneath it. The plinth is engraved with lotus petals along the edges, while its surface is carved with intricate vine and petal motifs. On either edge of the plinth stands an outward-facing peacock. The aureole emerges from the gorgeous plumage of these peacocks.

Curvaceous lengths of vine that are a mirror image of each other. At its zenith is a front-facing peacock with its wings raised on either side of its body. Zoom in on the miniscule details such as the serrations on its slender body and the perfect symmetry of its plumage. From underneath the peacock dangles a bell, adding to the auspiciousness of the composition.

The Auspicious Arch of Divine Presence

This magnificent brass prabhavali, or arch, is more than just a decorative piece; it is a gateway to the divine, designed to elevate any sacred space. Standing at an impressive height, this arch is a testament to the enduring legacy of Indian craftsmanship, meticulously handcrafted from lustrous brass. Its grandeur makes it a truly statement piece, perfect for adorning a puja room, altar, or as a focal point in your home's spiritual corner. The intricate detailing speaks volumes of the artisan's skill, each curve and swirl a dance of metal, capturing the essence of spiritual aesthetics. ––––––––––

Symbolism of the Peacock and Divine Echoes

At the base of this divine structure stand two exquisitely rendered peacocks, their proud stances and ornate plumage symbolizing beauty, royalty, and auspiciousness. In Hindu mythology, the peacock is often associated with Lord Kartikeya, the god of war, and is considered his divine vehicle. Its vibrant feathers are also linked to the celestial serpent Shesha, upon whom Lord Vishnu reclines. The presence of peacocks here is believed to ward off evil and bring good fortune. Above, a delicately suspended brass bell awaits its chime. Bells in Hindu tradition are not merely for sound; they are believed to awaken deities, drive away negative energies, and create a sacred atmosphere that invites divine presence. The fusion of the peacock's grace and the bell's resonance creates a powerful synergy, invoking blessings and serenity. ––––––––––

A Gateway for the Sacred

The prabhavali itself, with its soaring, arched design, is a representation of the cosmic gateway, framing the deity or sacred image placed within its embrace. It draws inspiration from the halo or aureole that surrounds divine figures in religious iconography, signifying divinity and transcendence. The elaborate scrollwork and floral motifs adorning the arch further enhance its sacred aura, reminiscent of the natural beauty that is often seen as a manifestation of the divine. This piece is not just an object; it is an invitation for contemplation and spiritual connection, a conduit for the sacred to enter and bless your home. Its substantial presence ensures it will be a cherished centerpiece for years to come, a timeless emblem of faith and artistry.

How to keep a Brass statue well-maintained?

Brass statues are known and appreciated for their exquisite beauty and luster. The brilliant bright gold appearance of Brass makes it appropriate for casting aesthetic statues and sculptures. Brass is a metal alloy composed mainly of copper and zinc. This chemical composition makes brass a highly durable and corrosion-resistant material. Due to these properties, Brass statues and sculptures can be kept both indoors as well as outdoors. They also last for many decades without losing all their natural shine.

Brass statues can withstand even harsh weather conditions very well due to their corrosion-resistance properties. However, maintaining the luster and natural beauty of brass statues is essential if you want to prolong their life and appearance.

  • The best and simplest way to maintain a brass statue is to clean it at least twice a week using a soft cloth or cotton rag. This will prevent dust from accumulating on the surface. Dusting is especially important for outdoor statues since it is prone to dust accumulation much more than indoors.

  • To give a natural shine and luster to the statue, you may apply coconut or olive oil using cotton on every portion. You can use a toothbrush to get to the small crevices but do not be too harsh. This will make the brass statue appear fresh and new with a polished look.

  • In case you have a colored brass statue, you may apply mustard oil using a soft brush or clean cloth on the brass portion while for the colored portion of the statue, you may use coconut oil with a cotton cloth.

Brass idols of Hindu Gods and Goddesses are especially known for their intricate and detailed work of art. Nepalese sculptures are famous for small brass idols portraying Buddhist deities. These sculptures are beautified with gold gilding and inlay of precious or semi-precious stones. Religious brass statues can be kept at home altars. You can keep a decorative brass statue in your garden or roof to embellish the area and fill it with divinity.
