A resplendent Garuda murti. Destined for the home or office temple of the devoted Vaishnava of the modern day. Sculpted from pure brass, its substantial proportions, coupled with the gold flush colour, is sure to turn heads.

Garuda’s stance is in keeping with His traditional iconography. Limbs in a rudimentary vatayanasana. Hands raised in front, palms stretched, as if bearing an invisible Vishnu and Lakshmi. Poised on a high chowki crafted from solid wood.

The most striking aspect of this Garuda murti is the densely serrated wings. They reflect light in a multitude of angles, adding to the glamour of the divine. Note the realistically cascading sashes and pleats from the hips.

The Divine Messenger of Vishnu

Witness the majestic presence of Garuda, the celestial king of birds and the devoted vahana, or mount, of Lord Vishnu. This magnificent brass sculpture captures Garuda in his awe-inspiring form, seated regally on an ornate wooden pedestal. His powerful wings are spread wide, symbolizing his swiftness and his ability to traverse the vast cosmic realms. The intricate detailing of each feather, the powerful physique, and the serene yet commanding expression on his face speak to the artistry and devotion embedded in this remarkable piece. Garuda holds a sacred place in Hindu mythology, revered for his unwavering loyalty to Lord Vishnu and his role as a vanquisher of serpents, representing the triumph of righteousness over evil. Legend has it that Garuda was born from the egg laid by Vinata, who had a dispute with her sister Kadru, the mother of serpents. Garuda's incredible strength and his epic battle to free his mother from servitude further solidify his divine status. He is often depicted as a symbol of speed, courage, and spiritual power, embodying the very essence of devotion and divine service. His image is considered auspicious, believed to ward off negativity and bring protection.

A Masterpiece of Craftsmanship

Crafted from high-quality brass, this Garuda statue gleams with a radiant golden hue, exuding an aura of divine splendor. The meticulous craftsmanship is evident in every curve and contour, from the finely sculpted features of Garuda’s divine countenance to the delicate patterns adorning his regal attire. The sculpture rests upon a substantial wooden pedestal, which is itself a work of art. The pedestal is intricately carved and painted with traditional motifs, featuring a rich brown base accented by vibrant yellow detailing, creating a striking contrast that elevates the overall aesthetic. The fusion of gleaming brass and richly decorated wood results in a truly captivating piece that is both visually stunning and spiritually resonant. This impressive Garuda sculpture is more than just an artifact; it is a conduit to the divine, a testament to ancient artistry, and a powerful symbol of devotion. Its grand scale and exquisite detail make it a focal point for any sacred space, meditation room, or discerning collection, inviting contemplation and invoking blessings.

How to keep a Brass statue well-maintained?

Brass statues are known and appreciated for their exquisite beauty and luster. The brilliant bright gold appearance of Brass makes it appropriate for casting aesthetic statues and sculptures. Brass is a metal alloy composed mainly of copper and zinc. This chemical composition makes brass a highly durable and corrosion-resistant material. Due to these properties, Brass statues and sculptures can be kept both indoors as well as outdoors. They also last for many decades without losing all their natural shine.

Brass statues can withstand even harsh weather conditions very well due to their corrosion-resistance properties. However, maintaining the luster and natural beauty of brass statues is essential if you want to prolong their life and appearance.

  • The best and simplest way to maintain a brass statue is to clean it at least twice a week using a soft cloth or cotton rag. This will prevent dust from accumulating on the surface. Dusting is especially important for outdoor statues since it is prone to dust accumulation much more than indoors.

  • To give a natural shine and luster to the statue, you may apply coconut or olive oil using cotton on every portion. You can use a toothbrush to get to the small crevices but do not be too harsh. This will make the brass statue appear fresh and new with a polished look.

  • In case you have a colored brass statue, you may apply mustard oil using a soft brush or clean cloth on the brass portion while for the colored portion of the statue, you may use coconut oil with a cotton cloth.

Brass idols of Hindu Gods and Goddesses are especially known for their intricate and detailed work of art. Nepalese sculptures are famous for small brass idols portraying Buddhist deities. These sculptures are beautified with gold gilding and inlay of precious or semi-precious stones. Religious brass statues can be kept at home altars. You can keep a decorative brass statue in your garden or roof to embellish the area and fill it with divinity.
