The five primal elements, or Pancha bhootas, form the foundation of our physical categorization. There are five of them: Akasha (space), vayu (air), Agni (fire), Apa (water), and Prithvi (earth). This five-layer brass oil lamp is a major ritual artifact created to pay homage to the Panchabhootas. A Samai Vilakku, a peacock lamp, and a Nila Villaku, or columnar lamp, are combined in this lamp. There are five wicks in each of the five layers. During festivals, it is preferred for adorning the temple grounds. The lamp's golden luster lends it a majestic appearance. The peacock pecking a branch atop the lamp represents development and wealth, and the lamp has a disc-shaped base to collect surplus oil and balance the longitudinal lamp.

A Radiant Symbol of Auspiciousness and Divinity

This magnificent, large-scale brass lamp is more than just a decorative piece; it is a vessel of light, tradition, and profound cultural significance. Standing tall and commanding, its presence evokes a sense of reverence and celebration, making it a perfect centerpiece for any sacred space or festive occasion. Crafted with meticulous attention to detail by skilled artisans in India, this lamp is a testament to the enduring legacy of Indian craftsmanship. ––––––––––

The Majestic Peacock: A Herald of Light and Beauty

Crowning this exquisite lamp is a finely detailed brass peacock, a creature deeply revered in Indian mythology and culture. The peacock, with its iridescent plumage and graceful demeanor, is often associated with divine beings, auspiciousness, and the manifestation of beauty and prosperity. In Hindu traditions, it is the mount of Lord Kartikeya, the god of war, and is also linked to Goddess Saraswati, the deity of knowledge and art. Its presence atop this lamp symbolizes the dispelling of darkness and the ushering in of wisdom, joy, and good fortune. Each feather, each curve of its form, is rendered with an artistry that breathes life into the metal. ––––––––––

A Cascade of Light for Sacred Rites

The lamp features multiple tiers, each culminating in a beautifully designed diya or oil lamp holder. This multi-tiered design allows for the simultaneous illumination of several flames, creating a breathtaking cascade of light that can fill a room with a warm, inviting glow. In the context of Hindu rituals and pujas, lamps are essential for invoking divine presence, purifying the atmosphere, and marking auspicious moments. The practice of lighting diyas, known as Deepa Dan, is believed to ward off evil spirits, attract positive energy, and bestow blessings upon the devotee. This lamp, with its grand stature and numerous flames, is ideally suited for significant ceremonies, temple use, or for creating an ambiance of profound spirituality within your home. ––––––––––

Heirloom Quality, Timeless Elegance

Handmade from high-quality brass, this lamp is not only a functional item but also an heirloom piece that can be passed down through generations. Brass, known for its durability and lustrous sheen, ages beautifully, developing a rich patina that adds to its character and charm over time. The intricate detailing throughout the lamp, from the fluted base to the elaborately designed lamp holders, speaks to the dedication and skill of the Indian artisans who brought it to life. Its substantial size ensures it will be a focal point, drawing the eye and sparking conversation, while its inherent beauty and spiritual resonance offer a constant source of inspiration and peace. It is a piece that marries artistic excellence with deep-rooted cultural traditions, creating an object of enduring value and beauty.

How to keep a Brass statue well-maintained?

Brass statues are known and appreciated for their exquisite beauty and luster. The brilliant bright gold appearance of Brass makes it appropriate for casting aesthetic statues and sculptures. Brass is a metal alloy composed mainly of copper and zinc. This chemical composition makes brass a highly durable and corrosion-resistant material. Due to these properties, Brass statues and sculptures can be kept both indoors as well as outdoors. They also last for many decades without losing all their natural shine.

Brass statues can withstand even harsh weather conditions very well due to their corrosion-resistance properties. However, maintaining the luster and natural beauty of brass statues is essential if you want to prolong their life and appearance.

  • The best and simplest way to maintain a brass statue is to clean it at least twice a week using a soft cloth or cotton rag. This will prevent dust from accumulating on the surface. Dusting is especially important for outdoor statues since it is prone to dust accumulation much more than indoors.

  • To give a natural shine and luster to the statue, you may apply coconut or olive oil using cotton on every portion. You can use a toothbrush to get to the small crevices but do not be too harsh. This will make the brass statue appear fresh and new with a polished look.

  • In case you have a colored brass statue, you may apply mustard oil using a soft brush or clean cloth on the brass portion while for the colored portion of the statue, you may use coconut oil with a cotton cloth.

Brass idols of Hindu Gods and Goddesses are especially known for their intricate and detailed work of art. Nepalese sculptures are famous for small brass idols portraying Buddhist deities. These sculptures are beautified with gold gilding and inlay of precious or semi-precious stones. Religious brass statues can be kept at home altars. You can keep a decorative brass statue in your garden or roof to embellish the area and fill it with divinity.
