"Om Namah Shivaya."

The Seated Bhagawan Shiva, meticulously handcrafted in India, captures the essence of Lord Shiva, the supreme deity in Hinduism. Shiva is often depicted in deep meditation, symbolizing his mastery over the mind and inner self. His third eye represents wisdom and the power of destruction. The crescent moon on his head symbolizes the passing of time. In one hand, he holds a trident, signifying his control over the three gunas (qualities) of nature. The Ganges flowing from his hair signifies purity. This sculpture reminds us of Shiva's role in the cycle of creation, preservation, and destruction.

Embodying the Divine: A Seated Shiva Sculpture

This exquisite brass sculpture captures the profound essence of Bhagawan Shiva, one of Hinduism's most revered deities. Seated in a tranquil meditative posture, this piece is a testament to the skilled craftsmanship of Indian artisans, meticulously handcrafted to bring divine energy into your space. The lustrous brass, polished to a radiant sheen, imbues the sculpture with an aura of timeless grace and spiritual significance. The form of Shiva depicted here is rich with symbolism. His serene countenance, framed by cascading locks of hair often associated with the celestial river Ganga, speaks of his cosmic role as the destroyer and transformer. The third eye on his forehead signifies his omniscience, capable of seeing beyond the veil of illusion. Around his neck coils a serpent, Vasuki, representing his dominion over all creatures and his ability to transcend fear and ego. In one of his upper hands, he holds the

Trishul

, his formidable trident, symbolizing the three fundamental aspects of existence: creation, preservation, and destruction. This powerful weapon is often seen as a representation of his ability to overcome ignorance and illusion.

A Meditative Presence

In his lower hands, Shiva is depicted in contemplative gestures. One hand holds a

Damaru

, a small two-headed drum, whose rhythmic sound is said to be the source of creation itself, the primordial sound of the universe, Om. The other hand rests gently, possibly in the

Abhaya Mudra

, signifying protection and reassurance, a blessing for devotees. The intricate detailing extends to his attire, with a richly patterned dhoti and ornate jewelry that speak of his regal yet ascetic nature. The sculpture is seated upon a decorative pedestal, adorned with a motif that often represents his cosmic dance, the Tandava, or his connection to the primal forces of nature. At the base, a lion's face is subtly integrated, a symbol of power and courage that Shiva embodies and overcomes.

Crafted with Devotion: Indian Artisanship

Originating from India, the land where the traditions of brass casting have flourished for millennia, this sculpture is more than just an object of art; it is a conduit for spiritual connection. Each detail, from the gentle curve of his lips to the precise etching of his ornaments, is rendered with a reverence that speaks to the artisan's deep understanding and devotion to the deity. The use of brass, a metal considered auspicious in many Hindu traditions, further enhances its sacred quality. This seated representation of Shiva invites a sense of peace and contemplation, making it a perfect addition to your altar, meditation space, or any corner of your home where you seek to cultivate a spiritual atmosphere. It serves as a constant reminder of Shiva's cosmic significance as the supreme being who is the source of both dissolution and renewal.

How to keep a Brass statue well-maintained?

Brass statues are known and appreciated for their exquisite beauty and luster. The brilliant bright gold appearance of Brass makes it appropriate for casting aesthetic statues and sculptures. Brass is a metal alloy composed mainly of copper and zinc. This chemical composition makes brass a highly durable and corrosion-resistant material. Due to these properties, Brass statues and sculptures can be kept both indoors as well as outdoors. They also last for many decades without losing all their natural shine.

Brass statues can withstand even harsh weather conditions very well due to their corrosion-resistance properties. However, maintaining the luster and natural beauty of brass statues is essential if you want to prolong their life and appearance.

  • The best and simplest way to maintain a brass statue is to clean it at least twice a week using a soft cloth or cotton rag. This will prevent dust from accumulating on the surface. Dusting is especially important for outdoor statues since it is prone to dust accumulation much more than indoors.

  • To give a natural shine and luster to the statue, you may apply coconut or olive oil using cotton on every portion. You can use a toothbrush to get to the small crevices but do not be too harsh. This will make the brass statue appear fresh and new with a polished look.

  • In case you have a colored brass statue, you may apply mustard oil using a soft brush or clean cloth on the brass portion while for the colored portion of the statue, you may use coconut oil with a cotton cloth.

Brass idols of Hindu Gods and Goddesses are especially known for their intricate and detailed work of art. Nepalese sculptures are famous for small brass idols portraying Buddhist deities. These sculptures are beautified with gold gilding and inlay of precious or semi-precious stones. Religious brass statues can be kept at home altars. You can keep a decorative brass statue in your garden or roof to embellish the area and fill it with divinity.
